IOPE has conducted research on retinol for 27 years, reflecting Amorepacific’s determination to release products efficacious for improving wrinkle care.

Retinol is the most powerful anti-aging agent in existence, but it was too difficult to apply to cosmetics due to its extreme instability.

In 1997, however, Amorepacific R&D Center successfully stabilized retinol for the first time in the world using a method involving dual coating with natural gum.

Based on this technology, Amorepacific finally unveiled Retinol 2500, the first certified product in wrinkle-improving function approved by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.

Since then, Amorepacific has focused on upgrading its retinol stabilization technology for 27 years.

Only Organization with Expertise to Seriously Handle Retinol

Because of its instability and its severe side effects, retinol is not for everyone.

Amorepacific’s retinol technology has continued to evolve thru 10 generations of retinol versions. IOPE Retinol Expert 0.1%, which was released in January 2020, is an upgrade containing 1.3 times more retinol than its predecessor.

The high-content, high-performance IOPE Retinol Expert 0.1% turned out to be effective in improving wrinkle care.

An IOPE Lab researcher said wrinkles tend to be created in dry areas in which muscles move, and the use of high-content, high-performance retinol products is recommended to make a big difference.

Proper doses are important to minimize skin troubles and demonstrate a maximum efficacy, the researcher added.

Wrinkle care becomes the subject of most concern among people interested in anti-aging. It’s such a concern that some refrain from smiling broadly.

Since 1997, Amorepacific had obtained various patents, published, and presented academic papers at academic conferences, and won several domestic and international awards. Its technology is internationally recognized for its stability and effect.

Amorepacific has developed capsulation technologies to protect retinol from heat, light, oxygen, and to control its release in order to minimize side effects.

Based on its knowledge accumulated over time, Amorepacific recently found a new method that delivers retinol more safely and effectively than ever before to the skin by perfectly stabilizing pure retinol itself in the product without having to capsulize it.

This latest stabilization technology, called Cube CellTM, isolates pure retinol in a mesh structure made up of polymer, a cocktail of antioxidants, and skin soothing ingredients, completely preventing the serial oxidation of retinol caused by heat, light, or oxygen.

By using Cube CellTM technology, Amorepacific has captured retinol of a much higher purity and content than before, with fewer side effects than previous retinol products, upgrading the effect of retinol by more than double the previous products.

Amorepacific plans to release retinol products under the brand Laneige.

Amorepacific has redoubled efforts to communicate with customers despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

For instance, Amorepacific held “Digital Skin Week” last September, an opportunity to diagnose customers’ skin conditions and recommend cosmetics suiting their skin.

Amorepacific plans to expand its presence abroad to meet the needs of K-beauty fandom.

Amorepacific signed an MOU with Shoppee, the leading online shopping platform in Southeast Asia to expand its overseas presence.
