President Yang Soo-yeong of Korea National Oil Corp. (KNOC) gives a gesture of solidarity along with Ulsan Mayor Song Chul-ho, President Yoon Byung-seok of SK Gas, and President Moon Byung-chan of KET as he made an inspection tour to a site of constructing a Northeast Asia oil hub on Feb. 2.

President Yang Su-yeong of Korea National Oil Corp. (KNOC) urged his executives and staff members to renew their mindset and be determined to make a leap forward this year.

He delivered his 2021 CEO message during an in-house broadcasting program on Jan. 28. He summed up his New Year¡¯s wishes as the Chinese saying ¡°simgiiljeon,¡± meaning renewing his or her mindset and dreaming of a leap forward.

¡°What is more important this year is finishing responsibilities of disposing of underperforming assets and withdrawing without fail, and we have to concentrate all capabilities on these, and put on the right track several new growth engine projects we¡¯re starting in a steady fashion¡± President Yang said.

The four mid- and long-term strategies KNOC will implement by 2025 are related to the strengthening of oil supply security, realizing social values, the implementation of the KNOC-type New Deal and securing financial soundness.

KNOC is devoting itself to being trusted by everyone under the catchphrase ¡°New Vision, New Challenge,¡± the company said.

In his message in KNOC¡¯s latest newsletter, newly inaugurated Senior Executive Vice President Choi Moon-gue of KNOC¡¯s Administration, Service and HSE Division said, ¡°KNOC is facing a desperately dangerous situation.¡± KNOC should make all-out efforts by mobilizing resources available to overcome the crisis, he said.

Senior Executive Vice President Choi said he will never stop putting the company¡¯s interest first, and he will execute what is necessary for the corporation.

Attaching Top Priority to Ensuring Safety

KNOC, possessing the nation¡¯s core infrastructure, has established a safety management regime. To this end, KNOC has appointed the head of KNOC¡¯s Administration, Service and HSE Division as chief security officer (CSO).

KNOC¡¯s Safety and Security Office was credited with not having a single accident causing a casualty in its Korean operation last year.

Of late, KNOC has upgraded safety management capabilities, as the corporation¡¯s activities to ensure safety were evaluated highly and diverse certificates were obtained.
