A consortium, led by Korea Water Resources Corp. (K-water), landed a 200 billion won metropolitan tap water project in Indonesia. It is the first time Korean metropolitan waterworks technology will be exported.
The Ministry of Environment said on Jan. 5 that a consortium, led by K-water, was selected as the final bidder of the Karian metropolitan city tap water supply project in Indonesia.
The project calls for supplying about 400,000 tons of tap water from Karian Dam to the state of Jakarta, Tangerang City and South Tangerang City daily.
It will be capable of catering to about 2 million people, an equivalent to the Cheongju purification plant¡¯s supplying water. The planned metropolitan water works will be dedicated later this year.
K-water proposed the project to the Indonesian government following the Korean-Indonesian summit, held in November 2017.
The project is a public-private partnership in which K-water, a water management public entity, proposes and wins it, based on collaboration of Korean and Indonesian governments along with Korean companies participating in design and construction.
