Hanwha Group Chairman Kim Seung-youn emphasized the importance of communication and attentiveness, the representative values of the company¡¯s management tenet ¡°Together, Far Away¡± amid a non-contact era of the post-COVID-19 pandemic.
He called for ramped up competitiveness on the global stage by securing future growth engines and sustainable management.
In his New Year¡¯s message, released on Jan. 4, Chairman Kim said, ¡°Even though the spread of the non-contact environment is accelerating digital transformation, such problems as emotional isolation and superficial communication have ensued.¡±
Such values as communication and attentiveness need to be furthered cherished true to the group¡¯s management tent ¡°Together, Far Away¡± amid a non-contact era, he said.
Chairman Kim looked back on last year, which was a time in which the world was flooded with hardships, and Hanwa shared and endured lockdowns, pain and crises.
He called for overcoming crises while encouraging each other with a sharing heart even though body and heart are exhausted.
¡°In times like this, we have to cherish face-to-face relations, expand shared growth management ¡®Together, Far Away¡¯ and fulfill corporate social responsibility,¡± he said.
¡°Building smart work environments and digital transformation should be complemented by innovation, which creates new methods and culture surpassing the conventional systems,¡± he said.
Chairman Kim said Hanwha Group has devoted itself to finding new paths of hope and making history, even when faced with stark situations for the past 68 years.
¡°The next two or three years will be a time of uncertainties that will change the overall industrial landscape, and we, responsible society members, have to spearhead efforts to overcome a crisis and lead a new paradigm for sustainable management, which corresponds to Hanwha¡¯s way,¡± he said.
To this end, he said Hanwha should continue to secure future growth engines and expand business capabilities and leadership.
Chairman Kim urged his executives and staff members to maintain a full-fledged leadership in areas such as ¡°K-national defense,¡± ¡°K-energy¡± and ¡°K-finance¡± by speeding up innovation as well as secure an upper hand in advance in future growth opportunities toward the world in new areas such as future mobility, airspace, green hydrogen energy, and digital financing solutions.
He called for implementing a future vision of co-existence with society without interruption and raising sustainable management creating social and economic values to global levels.
¡°Indices such as environment, social and governance have established themselves as global companies¡¯ major management principles, and strategies need to be established and implemented the way ESG is strengthened in a compliance perspective and sustainability of every management activity is enhanced,¡± he said.
Kim demanded that Hanwha proactively cope with climate change as a global renewable energy leader and accelerate environment management to spearhead carbon neutrality.
Chairman Kim noted that the current crisis can be translated into another opportunity. ¡°Even though dangers of COVID-19 are still prevailing, we have to head for a new path of challenge and hope with much pomp,¡± he said.
