CJ Group, marking the Shinchuknyeon, the Year of Ox, pledged to a paradigm shift by thoroughly overhauling fundamentals to become a global company.

In his New Year’s message, CJ Group Chairman Sohn Kyung-shik called for strengthening innovation and challenges to overcome an unprecedented crisis and attain sustainable growth of the future and development.

Chairman Sohn said, “The pandemic has confirmed that our group not yet be armed with structural competitiveness based on unmatched capabilities to tide over outside shocks.” He predicted that the business outlook for this year is bleak, while diagnosing the current status of the group.

In order to overcome tumultuous management conditions, he demanded that the group should make the year 2021 an opportunity to attain a paradigm shift through innovative growth – securing superlative manpower and unmatched capabilities and ramping up future growth foundation and be catapulted to a global leader.

To this end, CJ Group plans to share and put into practice the management tenet for this year: paradigm shift in a groupwide perspective.

Specifically, the group plans to lead markets by focusing on destructive innovation through innovative growth based on the “OnlyOne” spirit, securing and strengthening structural competitiveness that can overpower its rivals by securing unmatched core capabilities, and nurturing and securing top-tier manpower and focusing on a global corporate culture based on challenge and innovation.

Chairman Sohn stressed that executives and staff members’ roles are significant to help the group overcome the current crisis and growth.

He said, “All executives and staff members should be armed with a sense of determination, resolution and responsibility and become top manpower in their position and roles.”

“CJ Group’s history is one challenging situations that appear to be impossible. If we continue to advance forward through repeated innovation and challenges by improving fundamentals, the group will be evolved into a global leader,” he said.
