The video ¡°Economy in Wonderland,¡± depicting how Korea overcame an economic crisis caused by the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, has become the subject of much attention among netizens from countries around the world.
Korean Culture and Information Service (KOCIS), under the umbrella of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) produced ¡°Economy in Wonderland.¡±
It is the follow-up to the video ¡°Korea, Wonderland?¡± It was made it public via the YouTube Korea.net channel on Nov. 19. The follow-up video had 600,000 views as of Nov. 27, one week after it was posted.
The latest video studied the link between prioritizing the containment of COVID-19 and the weakening of the economy.
For example, Major credit rating agencies rated the ¡°economy in wonderland¡± stable, and key factors were explained based on objective evaluations by foreign media outlets and international institutions.
It introduced policies such as the reviving of the regional economy through disaster relief funds, as well as other policies like boosting the national economy and creating jobs through the ¡°Korean New Deal.¡± It gave prominent coverage to the outcomes.
The video delivered a message of hope and cooperation, wishing, ¡°The global economy is tightly interconnected, and the tale of Wonderland economy will be as a bridge to cross the COVID-19 crisis and make a better world.¡±
Foreign netizens made comments of solidarity. A person, ¡°Nurin Wanderlust,¡± said, ¡°Korea somehow managed to get their economy stable through thorough research and aids given to the citizens.
I believe the relief fund helps a lot of families and businesses to strive despite the ongoing pandemic and government also plays major role in battling the crisis. I hope and pray that things will get better soon.¡±
Another commenter, ¡°Medha Dhan,¡± said a few countries have managed to effectively control the effects of the global pandemic, and among them is Korea, the most exemplary model.
Another netizen, ¡°Kaly,¡± expressed thanks for Korea¡¯s always not sparing efforts to provide international support to cope with the pandemic.
Looking at each country¡¯s hits, Indonesia, India, France, Italy and Brazil showed the most interest in terms of views, respectively.
KOCIS Director Park Jung-youl said, ¡°This video has summarized the achievements of the Korea, reported through foreign media outlets from the most objective perspective, departing from a method of directly publicizing Korea, and it is designed to convey a message of solidarity and cooperation for the recovery of the global economy.¡±

The Korean boy idol group BTS¡¯s new song ¡°Life Goes On¡± topped the Billboard singles chart Hot 100. The new album was the first Korean language song to top the Hot 100.
The Billboard said on Dec. 1 that BTS topped the ¡°Artist 100¡± chart. The Korean idol group ranked first in the chart for the 13th time - ranking sixth overall.
BTS became the sole group to conquer the Billboard with its song ¡°Be¡± topping the 200 on Nov. 29 and ¡°Life Goes On¡± ranking top in the Hot 100 on Nov. 30 – on the same week at the same time.
