In his New Year message, Kumho Asiana Business Group Chairman Park Sam-koo called for rebuilding the Kumho Asiana Business Group. 

"This year marks the third year for Kumho Industrial Co. and Kumho Tire's respective workout programs for restructuring. We have to rebuild Kumho Asiana Business Group by enabling the two subsidiaries to graduate from the workout program. This is the reason why our group has set the 2012 business tenet as 'building a renewed Kumho Asia,'" he said. 

"A Renewed Kumho Asia" means the building of a corporate family comprising Kumho Express, Kumho Tires, Kumho Engineering & Construction, and Asiana Airlines, committed to social responsibility and contributions to the country and society, Park said. 

The chairman urged everyone at the business group to do his or her part in his or her own business area in order to rebuild Kumho Asiana. Park himself pledged to devote himself to carrying out his responsibilities and roles as chairman of the group to the fullest in a life-stake attitude in the face of a crisis.

Park called for rebuilding Kumho Asiana into a strong, dynamic and charming group that is smaller in size, respected by society, and with an improved quality of life for its executives and staff.

Looking back at last year he said, "2011 was the worst year with many incidents and hardships. Internally, our group saw difficulties such as the recall of Kumho Tires in the Chinese market, the crashing of an Asian Airlines cargo plane off Jeju, and the sagging Korean construction market, caused by a decline in real estate demand."

In accordance with the 2011 management tenet of building a foundation to rebuild Kumho Asiana, the business group pushed its restructuring process by disposing of Korea Express, said Chairman Park, adding that he would like to express his gratitude to the executives and staff who endured the restructuring process.  nw
