LX Geo-Forum, Public Sector-Industry Collaboration on Geospatial Information, Launched
MOLIT Vice Minister Yoon says ¡®Digital twin data in the land field will be built speedily by 2022¡¯

2020 LX Geo-Forum, a public sector-industry collaboration channel on geospatial information, took place between Nov. 19 and Nov. 20 under the theme ¡°Digital Twin Land Nurture a New Industry.¡±
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) and LX hosted and organized 2020 LX Geo-Forum.
A digital twin refers to a digital virtual space similar to reality. It involves a combination of high-precision 3D digital maps and diverse city and administrative data.
It serves as basic infrastructure of new industries such as self-driving cars, drones, and AR/VR and provides solutions for land and urban problems through simulations.
Among those on hand at the Dragon City Hotel, the venue of the forum, were 1st MOLIT Vice Minister Yoon Sung-won, LX President Kim Jung-ryul, Chairman Park Gyeong-ryul of Korea Geospatial Information Industries Cooperative, and Chairman Kim Suk-jong of Korea Geospatial Information Industry Association.
Officials with LX¡¯s regional headquarters participated in the forum virtually. Information on the forum and technology exhibits was steamed live via YouTube (LIBS MOLIT internet broadcasting channel).
An opening ceremony took place on Nov. 19 and two sessions, including one on sharing new technologies, took place.
On Day 2, a session on win-win cooperation, titled ¡°Technology Policy Showcase,¡± was held in which technologies representing all processes ranging from the building, fabricating and integrating of digital twin data to realization of administrative service models in the land sector were displayed and test-operated.
MOLIT Vice Minister Yoon said, ¡°Digital twin data in the land field will be built speedily by 2022, and related regulations and ways of distributing will be overhauled so that the industry can utilize high-precision geospatial information conveniently.¡±
The Order of Industrial Service Merit, Tin Tower went to Choi Soo-pong, a director with Korea Surveyor in recognition of his contribution of the development of the geospatial information industry.
President Yang Young-il of Hana Technology Corp. and Vice Ok Kyung-hwa each were honored with the Industrial Service Medal while six persons were presented with the president prize.
Nine people were awarded with the prime minister¡¯s award, while 110 others were presented with the MOLIT minister¡¯s award.
LX President Kim said, ¡°LX will provide active support to digital twin policies so that administrative service models based on digital twin models can be established and spread across the nation.¡±
LX showcased Jeonju municipal government¡¯s administrative service model during the forum. 2020 LX Geo-Forum was filled with diverse events such as the display and demonstration of representative technologies related to digital twin, policy and technology sessions, and ¡°talk concerts.¡±
