Setting out this year¡¯s goals at his New Year¡¯s message earlier this year, LS Group Chairman Christopher Koo called for localizing the operational structure and manpower of global businesses and enhancing operation efficiency.


To this end, the group is strengthening collaboration and support among locally incorporated entities of subsidiaries to have synergetic effects by establishing regional strategies. They will focus on China and ASEAN countries with the biggest growth potential.


In this context, LS Cable & Systems (LS C&S) has unveiled ¡°2020 Global Vision,¡± stressing balanced global growth in other parts of the world surpassing Asia. LS Electric inaugurated the Global Business Headquarters with a focus on the exploring of foreign markets by entering North Americas, Europe and Southeast Asia.


LS Group is stepping on the gas to supply core equipment, systems and technologies and expand investments in areas such as power infrastructure, smart energy and digital transformation, whose market demand is on the rise.


Major subsidiaries of the group are accelerating efforts to commercialize energy efficiency technologies such as super conduction cables, micro grid and high voltage district current (HVDC).


Meanwhile, LS Group Chairman Koo stands at the center of the group¡¯s digital transformation. Earlier this year, the chairman declared a scheme to secure a ¡°super digital operation regime.¡± Of late, under the stewardship of Chairman Koo, the group is endeavoring to realign its focus on smart energy, digital and eco-friendliness.


LS Group is establishing a mid- and long-term plan to transfer its major systems, such as enterprise resources planning (ERP), to the cloud. The group plans to invest tens of billions of won over the next five years to establish a digital operation system that can be compatible at the identical IT environment at any place around the world.


The group has designated digital transformation as its future strategy to brace for the arrival of the 4th Industrial Revolution. It is trying to employ AI, big data and smart energy technologies in the conventional manufacturing businesses.

LS C&S Dedicate 2nd Plant in India to Double Telecom Cable Parts Production Capacity


LS C&S has invested in the United States, Poland, Vietnam and Myanmar to ramp up global competitiveness by making the most of its own technological advantage in the high voltage, undersea and super conduction cable segments.


In the latest development, LS C&S doubled production capacity for telecom network cable parts in India to meet future demand from 5G connectivity by dedicating a second plant for LS Cable & System India (LSCI).


The move is designed to raise the company¡¯s share in the Indian market by making LSCI a production center for telecom cable harnesses. It also wants to tap other overseas markets such as Europe and North Americas.


A cable harness is an assembly of cables that connects base stations and antennas with telecom systems.


LS C&S expects the Indian telecom equipment market to enjoy rapid growth. India¡¯s mobile subscribers have surpassed 1.2 billion, and global telecom service providers have announced tens of trillions won in investment plans for upcoming commercialization of 5G mobile telecom.


LS C&S established LSCI in Bawal, northern India, which produces power, telecom cables and parts.


LS Electric is strengthening its presence in the next-generation network micro grid, allowing power self-sufficiency in small areas by making the most of convergence smart solutions, combining power and automation as well as ICT.


LS-Nikko Copper is pursuing innovation by building a smart factory to optimize the operation of the Onsan smelting plant through big data analysis.


LS Mtron has developed tractors equipped with eco-friendly engines to overcome environment restrictions in Europe and the United States.
