POSCO held the 2nd INNOVILT brand committee meeting on April 28 and put 27 products under the brand “INNOVILT,” POSCO’s premium brand for steel products for construction.

The items totaled 50 products from 31 companies, including 23 selected in the first quarter of the year.

POSCO launched the brand INNOVILT last December. Steel products for construction are used in architectural structures like buildings and houses, and infrastructure like roads and bridges.

However, these products are usually hidden under the structure, and even if they are visible, it is hard to recognize the manufacturer just by looking at the end-product. This is why POSCO launched the brand with client companies who make steel products for construction with POSCO’s high-end steel materials.

From now on, end-users as well as professional users can easily identify and select premium products as if they were selecting daily household items or home appliances. INNOVILT is a combination of the words innovation, value and built.

The premium brand aims to raise the standard of steel products for construction through hi-tech, creativity, sustainability and partnership.

Among the items selected as INNOVILT products during the second INNOVILT brand committee meeting are UL700 Hybrid Jacksupport and “PoSPACEs.” UL700 Hybrid Jacksupport is jointly developed by POSCO and Korea Gasul Industry as a high-strength steel pipe used for assistant or make-shift scaffoldings.

UL700 Hybrid Jacksupport is similar to the strength of the conventional 5-inch counterparts but weighs 29 kg, making it 50 percent lighter than existing ones, contributing to the improving of construction and the reducing of construction costs.

PoSPACEs is used for large-space, atypical frame system. The node for bridging frames at roofs and walls, which is made with HSA500/600 (High performance Steel for Architecture 500/600), can maintain excellent structural performance without additional secondary devices and realize diverse designs.

Items to be put under the brand INNOVILT are required to be made 100 percent with steel materials produced by POSCO, like POSCO World Top Premium.

The brand committee consists of 12 members, including Prof. Bae Doo-byung of Kookmin University Construction System Engineering Department, architecture and civic work professors, POSCO outside board members and inside board members.

Customer companies selling INNOVILT items are qualified for INNOVILT Alliance, and they need to sign a deal on the use of the brand INNOVILT with POSCO.

POSCO also provides companies with opportunities to create new business and spur fast growth through INNOVILT Alliance. For instance, there is “INNOVILT Council,” a monthly meeting of invited contractors and designers, designed to help the INNOVILT Alliance introduce its own items and build a network.

Kim Sang-gyun, chief of POSCO Steel Product Marketing Office, said, “Steel construction steel products are steel materials that have been always seen with our surrounding areas and have been closely related to our daily lives.”

The Shop Gallery was dedicated beside Dosan Park in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, last March to make a pitch for steel products for construction, produced by POSCO.

The structure was built with POSCO’s PosMAC (POSCO Magnesium Aluminum alloy Coating product). The building with three ground floors and 4,966 sq. meters in total floor area was built with POSCO’s premium steel products of a huge 760 tons.

The 1st floor lobby of the structure has a media table to showcase details of steel products under the brand “INNOVILT,” POSCO’s premium brand for steel products for construction.

There are six premium steel products under the brand INNOVILT on display there, including a steel curtain wall, and a high-performance guard rail. The Shop Gallery will be used as a space to exhibit INNOVILT products and hold events to make a pitch for the premium brand.
