President Park said KEPCO KDN has been focusing on developing new projects related to energy ICT convergence to expand future growth engines, strengthening new/renewable energy and security businesses, creating new ICT businesses for power companies and expanding overseas projects.
The company has been proactively participating in social contribution activities as a public entity, such as public service innovation and fixing safety and environment problems related to power and energy businesses and supporting shared growth with SMEs through the establishment of an ecosystem of creating good jobs.
KEPCO KDN has been devoting itself to securing global competitiveness and boosting new future energy businesses by making the most the energy ICT expertise the company has accumulated since its establishment.
The company has succeeded in building ¡°Namjeju Smart Power Plant,¡± using a digital twin technology in compliance with digital transformation.
Based on the success story, KEPCO KDN is seeking to convert other power plants into ¡°intelligent digital plants.¡±
The company intends to raise safety and efficiency of power supply through ¡°intelligent power supply network projects.¡±
The company also aims to enter auto, health and other AI data center construction and service businesses by participating in a state-initiated AI cluster complex in Gwangju.
Following KEPCO KDN¡¯s successful completion of a 54MW photovoltaic power project in Ibaraki, Japan, the company is working on winning more new/renewable energy projects related to energy ICT in countries such as Vietnam and Indonesia in compliance with the government¡¯s ¡°new southern policy initiative.¡±
The government has been pushing ahead with eight leading projects for innovative growth in four areas - science technology, industry, human beings, and social systems.
Out of the eight leading projects for innovative growth, KEPCO KDN has designated new energy industries, drones, smart city, bio health, FinTech, and smart farm as businesses suiting the company¡¯s responsibilities and plans to set aside 19 billion won as new investments by 2025 in conjunction with the government¡¯s mid- and long-term innovative growth roadmap.
KEPCO KDN is focusing on health care for older people based on telecommunications infrastructure, running fine dust cleaner/hydrogen-powered buses, and the establishment of technology cooperation experiment centers.
The company has completed a pilot project to introduce and verify a silver health care technology at the Naju Nursing House based on power telecommunications infrastructure.
The project will likely be expanded to cover other nursing houses to offer nursing care for the underprivileged brackets. Hydrogen-powered buses in which hydrogen, produced using photovoltaic power panels on the bus rooftop and engine, can empower the operation of its engine and filter, emerging as an alternative technology to tackle urban fine dust problems.
