LS Group Chairman Christopher Koo gives a book as a gift to Director Park Hyun-ho, head of LSCI, at a meeting with the newly inaugurated executives at LS Yongsan Tower in Seoul on Jan. 6.

LS Group Chairman Christopher Koo urged newly inaugurated executives to become adventurers. He stressed overseas market exploration not only at his New Year¡¯s message but also in his meeting with newly inaugurated executives earlier this year.

Chairman Koo repeatedly stressed the importance of overseas market exploration at both of the events urging the executives to lead global growth. Chairman Koo made the remarks at a dinner with 14 newly inaugurated executives at the LS Yongsan Tower in Seoul.

Chairman Koo¡¯s remarks may be construed as the group¡¯s strategies to overcome market uncertainties and secure future growth engines by aggressively tapping areas such as China with a great growth potential and Southeast Asia.

According to officials present at the dinner, Chairman Koo said looking at the profiles of the newly inaugurated executives, ¡°it seemed that the group¡¯s efforts to nurture global management and global manpower had paid off.¡±
Chairman Koo was also quoted as saying that LS Group¡¯s sustainable future could be found in the global market.

He stressed that the newly inaugurated executives should play a part of being adventurers who could spearhead efforts to find success stories in the global market.

Earlier, in his New Year¡¯s message on Jan. 2, Koo urged his executives and staff members to localize overseas operation personnel and organization, enhance efficiency of overseas business operation, and secure global leading digital operation systems.

In this context, his will was revealed in a reshuffle of LS executives, conducted last November.

At that time, the India operation chief of LS Cable & System, the cable maker¡¯s undersea global business division head, the overseas business division chief of E1, and the trading division head of the company were among the newly inaugurated executives.

At the behest of Chairman Koo, each subsidiary company has been accelerating efforts to explore overseas markets. LS C&S Chairman Koo Ja-yeop declared ¡°Vision 2030¡± at the LS Tower in Anyang, Gyeonggi-do, on Jan. 3.

At that time, LS C&S Chairman Koo said the company would expand global businesses with a focus on potential markets and innovate business models in value-added area such systems and solutions.

His remarks may be interpreted as his willingness to short up the standing of a global company surpassing its business turf focusing on Asia.

LSIS has inaugurated a global business headquarter and strengthened manpower to explore new businesses in regions such as North America, Europe and Southeast Asia.

LS Group Chairman Koo gave to the newly inaugurated executives three books, including Kyocera Honorary Chairman Kazuo Inamori¡¯s book ¡°Living Power¡± (Korean version) as gifts. Chairman Koo had taken time out to meet and talk with new executives every year since 2013 when he took office as group chairman.

He gave books as gifts and conveyed his thoughts and views candidly.
