Acting President Hong says ‘IPA will seek to open more than new maritime routes with the goal of letting Incheon Port make a 2nd take-off’

Incheon Port Administration (IPA) held a ceremony to kick off the 2020 business year and announced New Year’s resolutions, unveiling six tasks and a vision at IPA’s auditorium and New International Passenger Terminal on Jan. 2.
In his New Year’s message, Acting IPA President Hong Kyung-sun extended thanks to IPA officials for the successful operation of Incheon Port last year.
IPA handled more than 3 million tons of container traffic for the third straight year and attracted some 2 million maritime passengers.
True to the 2020 catchphrase “tolerance, fairness and innovation,” he said the IPA aims to open more new maritime routes with the goal of letting Incheon Port make a 2nd take-off.
It aims to handle 3.25 million tons of container traffic and attracting more than 2.2 million maritime tourists this year by successful opening of the New Incheon International Passenger Terminal.
The IPA will expand investments through fiscal expansion in accordance with the government’s 2020 economic policies, supply backwater sites in North Port, South Port, New Port backwater zones in a stable fashion, and expedite efforts to attract investments in the “Golden Harbor Project.”
“IPA will seek to solve the pending issues by sympathizing with the local community and citizens. He said the IPA will introduce a social dialogue regime, no matter how long it takes.
Acting President Hong said the meeting served as an opportunity in which port users, partners, and representatives of the local community get together and have candid discussions on how to develop Incheon Port.
He expressed hope that the good atmosphere of the New Year’s gathering event will continue to prevail during the whole of the year.
