Kumho Engineering and Construction Co.(Kumho E&C) showed off a model home for the DMC Kumho Rochensia Apts on Nov. 24, an apartment complex being built in the Moraenae, Seodaemun Ward in Seoul, as part of a project to spruce up the Moraenae market and Seojung market.

The model home event attracted a huge crowd as the site is easily accessible by underground rail and bus lines, and is surrounded by education facilities and daily infrastructure.

The completed residential complex is a premium-class new town with nearby infrastructure such as Kajwa Station of the Seoul-Wonsan Central Railroad Line.

There are also a number of middle and high schools, as well as a pleasant park located nearby, adding up to an outstanding local environment.

A huge residential complex, consisting of five 29-story buildings with four basement floors is planned for Namgajwa-dong, the Seodaemun Ward, Seoul.

The product will involve 450 apartment and supplementary facilities on a space as large as 10,856 sq. meters, all adding up to a livelier area with many more commercial facilities yet to be built.

The new residential facilities to be built in the existing station areas are already crowded with rows of apartments.

Other residential facilities are more popular than those to be built in the new residential complex, because existing residential complexes are already loaded with all kinds of environmental advantages including nearby hospitals, schools and transportation facilities.

In Gwangju, apartments to be built near the Gwangju Metropolitan Subway No. 2 Line, which is slated to be built in August, commanded high pre-construction prices.

The Mudung Mountain Xi and Oullim Apartments being built by GS Construction and Kumho Construction command the highest prices ever since the ¡°pass book¡± sales of apartments took fold.
The pre-construction sale of 1,010 apartments attracted 46,524 applicants.

Separately, Kumho E&C Co., a South Korean energy management solution provider, will lead the development project to create an energy self-sufficient town in Laos as it tries to recover from a dam disaster that has devastated the country.

The Korean company said it has been named the main contractor for a Laos project, which is part of an energy development assistance initiative of Korea¡¯s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. The project is expected to cost about $3.3 million for completion by 2020.

The town will be set up at the Nakai-Nam Theun National Biodiversity Conservation Area in Nakai, central-eastern Laos and run on renewable energy such as solar and small hydro power.

Kumho E&C plans to train the residents on how to run and maintain the new community so it can be fully self-sufficient. ¡°We hope this project will provide some hope to Laos residents who have been affected by the recent flood,¡± said an official Kumho E&C.

In July, a hydroelectric dam under construction in Attapeu province, south-eastern Laos collapsed after heavy rainfall, causing the rivers to flood and submerge six villages.

At least 35 people have been killed and up to 100 were missing, with thousands of people left homeless. The dam was a joint venture of Korean, Lao and Thai firms, with Korea¡¯s SK Engineering & Construction the main builder of the project.

Kumho E&C said it aims to build on the Laos project to provide electricity to neighboring countries across Southeast Asia. Last year, the company installed a solar-powered microgrid system and energy storage system in a remote village in Myanmar.
