Hyundai Motor¡¯s Grandeur, once dubbed an ¡®icon of success,¡¯ has undergone its first facelift in three years. Hyundai Motor announced on Nov. 19 the release of the New Grandeur.

The automaker held a ceremony to put the car on the market in the presence of reporters covering the automobile sector and Hyundai Motor officials at the Bitmaru Broadcasting Support Center in Goyang, north of Seoul.

The latest version comes three years after the sixth generation made its debut in November 2016.

The New Grandeur is an combination of a futuristic design and advanced convenience options. Hyundai Motor aims to sell 110,000 New Grandeur units by the end of next year.

The automaker plans to make the New Grandeur one of Korea¡¯s representative flagship full-size sedans. Despite its facelift, the New Grandeur¡¯s body is 10 millimeters longer, and its wheelbase is 40 millimeters longer than the G6 version, securing the largest space of similar sedans.

The New Grandeur employs an integrated and frameless front radiator grille with a ¡°Parametric Jewel¡± pattern, an LED head lamp, a hidden lighting style daytime running lamp (DRL).

The interior design has a more high-tech impression, with the adopting of an infortainment system with a new graphic-user interface (GUI).

The latest car boasts newly introduced options, such as an air purifier, G2 smart posture control system, front collision assist-junction turning function.

The New Grandeur had a good reception by making history with an unprecedented record of 32,179 pre-sale bookings over 11 days from Nov. 4 to 18.

The car comes with four engine line-ups: 2.5-liter gasoline, 3.3 gasoline, 2.4 gasoline hybrid and 3.0 liquefied petroleum injected engine. The New Grandeur starts with 32.94 million won for a 2.5 gasoline engine and ends up with 36.69 million won for a 2.4 hybrid.
