Korea Gas Technology Corp. (KOGAS-Tech) teamed up with JNK Heaters to expand infrastructure for the hydrogen industry.

KOGAS-Tech has been implementing the maintenance business with a focus on safety management of hydrogen facilities based on the maintenance technologies the company accumulated over the past 27 years.

The corporation established a separate department specializing in hydrogen. JNK Heaters is engaged in hydrogen-related business. Since its establishment in 1998, JNK Heaters Co., Ltd. has greatly contributed to the design, fabrication, erection, maintenance and revamping of process fired heaters and furnaces.

KOGAS-Tech signed an MOU on hydrogen industry infrastructure EPC and O&M with JNK Heaters at the latter¡¯s plant in Dangjin, Chungcheongnam-do, on Sept. 20.

Under the deal, the two companies agreed to jointly implement businesses related to the production, supply and management of hydrogen extractor packages. KOGAS-Tech will be charged with the operation and management of hydrogen producers, while JNK Heaters will be responsible for manufacturing hydrogen extractors.

The supply and sale of hydrogen extractors will be done jointly by the two companies or separately, depending on the nature of each transaction.

KOGAS-Tech has agreed to jointly implement an O&M business and commissioned safety management related to hydrogen compression and extraction facilities, supplied by JNK Heaters. Both sides also have agreed to collaborate on joint R&D activities related to integrated hydrogen charging station infrastructure.

KOGAS-Tech KOGAS-Tech has been accelerating efforts to expand its presence in hydrogen-related businesses. The corporation, which established a separate department specializing in hydrogen this year, has been carrying out infrastructure buildup projects with local governments, including the Chungcheongbuk-do provincial government.

Under the deal with JNK Heaters, KOGAS-Tech President Koh Young-tae and other executives looked around JNK Heaters¡¯ plant producing process fired heaters at a guidance of JNK Heaters officials following the signing of the agreement.

They then proceeded to Songak in which JNK Heater has a testbed for producing hydrogen extractors and looked at the recently produced hydrogen extractor ¡°HIUS-500,¡± which is undergoing a test-operation.

KOGAS-Tech President Koh said, ¡°A combination of the nation¡¯s sole hydrogen extractor technology, owned by JNK Heaters, and KOGAS-Tech¡¯s exclusive maintenance technology will serve as a good opportunity to produce synergetic effects.¡±

KOGAS-Tech will lead efforts to secure the safety of hydrogen energy and technology stabilization based on safety and maintenance technology the corporation has accumulated and develop itself as an institution specializing in hydrogen facility maintenance, he added.

JNK Heaters President Kim said the MOU will allow JNK Heaters to swiftly cope with maintenance demand for hydrogen extractors and charging facilities using maintenance infrastructure and facilities owned by KOGAS-Tech across the nation and its maintenance expertise.

He also expressed hope for the overall hydrogen infrastructure business with KOGAS-Tec.

The two companies will take the initiative in the spreading of hydrogen infrastructure in Korea.
