Vice Chairman Park Geun-hee delivers a welcoming address at the CJ Global Day held Aug. 17-18 at the L.A. Convention Center in Los Angeles to recruit new employes for the group under the banner of “Come and Join Us: Let’s Change Dreams into Reality.”

“CJ Global Day” was held Aug. 17-18 at the LA Convention Center in Los Angeles to recruit talented personnel to run the group’s overseas operations.

The theme for CJ Group’s two-day fair was, “Come and Join Us; Let’s Change Dreams into Reality Together.”

It was the first time CJ held an event for potential recruits to take charge of the global operation of the group’s current operations and future vision. The event took place on the sidelines of the K-Con Entertainment, an annual event held since 2012. K-Con is the biggest Hallyu event in North America.

CJ showed off its business operations, led by K-Pop, K-Food and K-Beauty to the future generations of CJ Group executives and staff. Around 200 graduates, many with doctorate degrees of the well-known colleges and universities in the U.S. were invited.

In a video message, Chairman Lee Jay-hyun said a dream by an individual person is just a dream, but a dream shared by all can be translated into reality.

He called on the young talents to join the group and work together to make the group’s operations to grow together.

 He also told the Global Strategic Conference to secure global personnel ready to conquer the global market and provide them with an opportunity to do so after joining the group. Around 40 of the group’s top leaders came to the LA Convention Center to participate in the event.

Vice Chairman Park recalled that when CJ parted with Samsung Group to follow its own course back in 1995, its annual revenue was a meager 1 trillion won, but now it has grown to 50 trillion won in just 24 years.

Director of the Personnel Support Office, Kim Jin-kook, said CJ plans to regularize the event annually to recruit superbly talented personnel for the group on regular basis.

The event clearly showed that CJ wants to recruit only the most talented personnel to take charge of its strategy to boost the growth of its international operations.

Top leaders of the group, led by CEO Shin Hyun-jae, attended the korea-U.S. Academic Forum on Aug. 15 in Chicago to recruit personnel for R&D. All these moves underscore the group’s plan to boost the growth of its overseas operations.

In August of last year, the group took over DSC Logistics Co. for 280 billion won, followed by the takeover of Swans Co., a frozen food company for 1.9 trillion won in February this year, spending a total of over 2 trillion won to acquire those two companies in the U.S., in huge M&A moves.

 The group’s overseas sales last year came to 8.55 trillion won, up 20 percent on year.

 At the group’s global management strategy meeting held in L.A., Chairman Lee urged the entire group to prepare to put everything into achieving the company-wide targets. The next 1 to 2 years will be critical for the group’s future, he said, as the period would determine the group’s future operations.

In October 2002, CJ Group was launched as CJ Co., Ltd.

In September 2007, CJ Co., Ltd again spun off as a business holding company, renaming itself CJ CheilJedang Co., Ltd, and CJ Group became the holding company for a number of food and entertainment-related subsidiaries based in South Korea.
