Samsung SDS plans to enter the Vietnamese market by making the most of a combination of its advanced IT technology and CMC¡¯s IT infrastructure, sales network and recognition.
The company plans to make Vietnam a platform to make inroads into the Southeast Asian market.
Samsung SDS President Hong Won-pyo revealed a plan to explore overseas markets as he took office in late 2017. His plan has begun to yield outcomes. The company is accelerating efforts to invest in countries such as Vietnam.
Samsung SDS signed a contract on strategic investments with CMC, Vietnam¡¯s second largest IT service provider, on July 26.
Samsung SDS invested 50 billion won to acquire a 25 percent stake in CMC and become the biggest shareholder of the company.
Samsung SDS and CMC have ramped up strategic collaboration since June 2018 when they signed an agreement on joint projects in sectors such as cyber security and smart factories.
CMC is a Vietnamese company with about 300 employees.
The company is engaged in major projects such as system integration, software development, cloud, and IT infrastructure operation.

Samsung SDS and CMC plan to implement joint projects such as smart factory, cloud, security, smart building, and content management services.
They also agreed to carry out joint projects such as AI, blockchain and big data. They plan to target Korean companies in Vietnam while intending to participate in projects to build the Vietnamese government¡¯s e-Government system and smart cities.
Samsung SDS¡¯s overseas market exploration strategies have begun to bear fruit of late. The company¡¯s overseas portion of sales for the second quarter of 2019 jumped 41 percent over the same period last year.
Samsung SDS President Hong said his company plans to advance to Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries on the strength of its collaboration with CMC.
Samsung SDS is also seeking to find ways of promoting collaboration with other companies in other countries, he added.

Brightics AI, Samsung SDS¡¯s AI solution platform, has become a subject of attention from the business community.

Brightics AI is in use for sales departments. The platform is used to predict sales amounts and manage stock at 481 electronics product distribution outlets in Germany and Austria.
