Lee lauded for his contribution to the government's bid to make Korea a logistics center of Northeast Asia

CJ Korea Express President Lee Hyun-woo, concurrently chairman of the Korea Port Logistics Association (KOPLA), has been awarded the Order of Industrial Merit Service, Silver Tower, in recognition for securing Korean and overseas port infrastructure and attracting global shipping lines to Korea at an event to mark the 17th Ocean Day anniversary in Yeosu on May 31. 
Lee, a logistics veteran with a 30-year career in both theory and practice, has been credited for his role in facilitating logistics flow in the Seoul metropolitan area by participating in the Gyeongin (Seoul-Incheon) Ara Waterway Project. CJ Korea Express became the operator of three general piers at the Gimpo Terminal, part of the waterway project. The company has been praised for making massive investments into the construction of storage, operation, and stevedoring facilities necessary for the facilitation of the waterway project and efficient operation of the terminal. 
Lee was praised for his roles in the private sector-government efforts toward the development of the national logistics industry and modernizing the Korean port logistics industry while holding several positions in the Korean port logistics industry and other related industry organizations.
He was praised for his roles in enhancing the nation¡¯s logistics competitiveness by taking charge of the logistics of many international exhibitions Korea has so far hosted, including the 1988 Seoul Olympics, the 1993 Daejeon Expo, and the 2002 FIFA World Cup. CJ Korea Express, in charge of the logistics of Expo 2012 Yeosu, is putting forward its fullest efforts to make the Expo a success. 
The KOPLA chairman was recognized for his contribution to the stabilization of the domestic cargo transportation market by preventing the general strikes conducted by truck drivers¡¯ unions that took place in 2003, 2006, 2008, and 2009 from disrupting the market by sticking to principles and devising thorough response measures in cooperation with authorities. 
In accordance with the need for restructuring port manpower systems to enhance the competitiveness of domestic ports, Lee was praised for his role in the reorganizing of port power supply mechanisms that allow stevedoring companies to hire their own crews by inducing port logistics firms¡¯ active participation and close cooperation with authorizes. 
Lee was also hailed for his role in attracting major global logistics players by taking advantage of his company¡¯s port facilities and logistics network ¡Æ¢â bringing in Maersk Line, MSC, and China¡¯s largest shipping line China Shipping to the Korea Express Terminal of Gwangyang Port and Incheon Port fourth pier ¡Æ¢â thus cont-ributing to the development of the national economy and enhancing port competitiven-ess. 
CJ Korea Express has been cited for securing major Korean trading ports and foreign logistics infrastructure and smooth import and export logistics flows, thus contributing to helping Korea rise to the world¡¯s top-seven trading power. 

HARBOR LOGISTICS
CJ Korea Express has provided 24-hour port operation service through its stevedoring and storage facilities, exclusive for bulk freights, specialty freights, and containers at the 23 major trading harbors in Korea. Through the specialization of operational manpower and the continuous investment in harbor facilities, CJ Korea Express has the largest stevedoring capacity in Korea. 
The Container Strategic Information System (CONSIS) of CJ Korea Express is an advanced system that allows the company to carry out real-time, web-based identification of every detail related to shippers and shipping companies. The system has been benchmarked by others at home and abroad. While expediting the progress of the development of overseas ports, CJ Korea Express has put in efforts to leap forward to become a global terminal operator by building an international harbor network through the development of overseas harbors, for example, in China and Far Eastern Russia. #
