AmorePacific¡¯s brand ¡°Laneige¡± is entering the European market.
Starting April, AmorePacific is opening Laneige outlets at about 800 Sephora shops in 18 European countries, including France, Russia, Spain and Italy, to tap the European market.
Sephora is a leader in global prestige retail, teaching and inspiring clients to play in a world of beauty. Owned by LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, the world's leading luxury goods group, Sephora has earned its reputation as a beauty trailblazer with its expertise, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit.
AmorePacific entered the U.S. and Australian markets in 2014 and 2018, respectively, by opening its outlets at Sephora stores of each country. Among the in-store items are the global best-sellers such as ¡°Water Sleeping Mask¡± and ¡°Water Bank Moisture Cream.¡±
In 2002, the brand Laneige made its global debut by entering the Hong Kong market. The brand has since been made available in 15 areas, including those in Asia, North America and Oceania.
AmorePacific has accelerated efforts to expand its presence in the European region.
In 2011, the company acquired the luxury perfume brand ¡°Goutal Paris¡± and the company opened its brand Sulhwasoo outlet at Galeries Lafayette in Paris. Galeries Lafayette is an upmarket French department store chain deluged with globally renowned brand items. Sulhwasoo is the sole Korean brand to make it onto the luxury department store.
AmorePacific had analyzed the European cosmetics market and consumers¡¯ trends to prepare for Laneige¡¯s entry into the European countries.
A report by the global market survey institution Euromonitor International showed that the value of the European cosmetics market stood at about 92.4 billion euros, accounting for 22 percent of that of the global market. Of late, the European market showed signs of a rise in recognition and popularity toward K-beauty.
