Panpyrin has been a popular drink remedy for cold for more than half century in Korea as Bacchus has been for remedy for tiredness and both are the products of Dong-A Pharmaceutical Co.

Panpyrin got the license for sale in 1956 and produced and marketed from 1961 for the first time in Korea by its maker. The cold remedy first came in tablets in 1961 but later around `1977, it became liquids contained in small bottles and sells as much as 20 billion won annually.

The word Panpyrin came from pain for pan and pyr from pyrexia with the word “in” added at the end, which denote its an outstanding remedy for common cold and the pain associated with it. The Panpyrin Q is the best selling Panpyrin product with the world Q taken from “quick” to say it’s a quick cold remedy.

Many people think about an ad for the cold remedy when the weather gets cool and during the weather changing seasons, “Beware of cold” an ad for Panpyrin, many unconsciously from the time when the ad was first aired in the 1960s.

Dong-A Pharmaceutical unveiled an Panpyrin doll wearing a headgear on TV and news papers and employed Actor Chang Yu-jin to say the world, ”Be careful of Cold,” a simple and yet impact message in the ad to implant the panyprin in the minds of the people as a cold remedy.

Of late, however, Actor Park Bo-young replaced Actor Chang as the voice actor in the Golden Time TV ad for Panpyrin, designed to deliver a message that as there is a golden time for saving lives with speedy treatments, when cold is caught, one should not lose the Golden Time for treatment and use Panpyrin to take care of the cold.

Panpyrin Q, an integrated remedy for cold contains six remedial pharmaceutical elements as acid aminopenicillin, guaifenesin and musi caffeine, among others, for such cold as watering nose, blocked nose, coughing, running fever and headache, among others, especially good for early colds.
