Jin Air, the low-cost airline operated by Korean Air, netted 7.8 billion won in profit, up 256 percent YoY in the first half, tops among the low-cost air carriers in Korea with first-half revenue totaling 119.5 billion won, the company said.
The low-cost air carrier also announced its Butterfly Point program, which gives passengers who fly on its planes 10 times a free ticket for its domestic flights, which will be expanded to include international flights in the future.
To celebrate the air carrier¡¯s fourth anniversary of operations on July 17, Cho Hyun-min, managing director of Korean Air who has doubled as executive vice president of the low-cost airline, acted as a flight attendant aboard flight LJ643 from Gimpo Airport to Jeju Island, serving beverages to passengers. She said since taking over as executive vice president in charge of marketing early this year, she has been looking to find out customer needs on the jobsites and decided to serve as a flight attendant on a plane with the support of Korean Air Chairman Cho Yang-ho, her father.
