Korea South-East Power Co. (KOEN) participated in the WETEX 2018, one of the biggest international exhibitions for smart and innovative solutions and services in the Middle East to help Korean SMEs explore Middle Eastern markets.


KOEN also held a session to foster export negotiations in cooperation with KOTRA¡¯s trade office in Dubai. The WETEX 2018 took place in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, from Oct. 21 to Oct. 25.


KOEN displayed products produced by 21 cooperative SMEs. The power company provided an opportunity for Korean SMEs with excellent technology power to contact with buyers and industry officials and publicize their products.


About 40 companies such as energy companies, equipment importers and oil &gas industries in the Middle East participated in the WETEX 2018. KOEN and KOTRA analyzed mainstay products of Korean companies and their characteristics.


In particular, KOEN received a good reception from its cooperative SMEs through one-on-one matching tailored to meet needs of buyers in the Middle East to enhance a rate of doing a deal. Korean companies held negotiations on exports worth $32 million while deals on exporting $9 million were struck.


Moon Chang-seop, head of KOEN¡¯s Creating Shared Value Division, said, ¡°KOEN will strengthen one-stop support to help cooperative SMEs develop technology and explore markets and make all-out efforts to serve as a guardian until they grow up as global SME superstars.¡±

KOEN held a ceremony to sign an MOU to jointly implement the ¡®Sunny Plant¡¯ project to supply solar energy facilities to the energy underprivileged on Oct.31.
Among those on hand at the ceremony were Moon Chang-seop, head of KOEN¡¯s Creating Shared Value Division, Bae Sang-seok, chief of Korea Energy Agency¡¯s Gyeongnam Regional Headquarters, CEO Park Jin-hae of the Gyeongnam Social and Economic Support Center, and Chairman Cheon Jeom-seok of the Gyeongnam Sunshile Development Cooperative.
The latest project is the 23rd rendition of the Sunny Plant project.
The project calls for the installation of a solar power unit at Namchon Village for the handicapped. It is designed to achieve energy self-sufficiency and lay a foundation for the village¡¯s financial independence.
