Hanwha Group conducted a partial reshuffle of executives on Oct. 10, appointing President Ok Kyung-suk of Hanwha Corp.¡¯s Explosives Division to be the first president of the integrated explosives and defense unit.
President Yeo Seung-joo in charge of strategic planning at Hanwha Life Insurance was promoted to CEO, along with Hanwha Life Insurance Vice Chairman Cha Nam-gyu.
The personnel changes were made to proactively cope with management business environment changes and advance the establishment of 2019 business plans.
New President-CEO Yeo is one of the group¡¯s financial experts as he held positions as head of the Financing Team and the Strategic Planning Office at Hanwha Life Insurance and president of Hanwha Investment & Securities. He is credited with leading the group¡¯s M&As and strategies related to future new businesses.
Hanwha Corp. has decided to integrate the explosives and defense divisions, many parts of which are overlapping, to promote management efficiency and synergetic effects. President Ok Kyung-suk of Hanwha Corp.¡¯s Explosives Division has been appointed to be the president of the integrated divisions.
President Ok once served as senior executive vice president of Samsung Electronics. His 30-year-odd career with Samsung Electronics include stints such as head of the support team of the LCD Business Division, as well as chief of the Management Support Office and senior executive vice president, all with the Device Solutions Division.
President Ok was recruited by Hanwha Group in 2016 for his greater understanding of the manufacturing industry and his strengths for improving of fundamentals and ramping up mid- and long-term competitiveness. He also served as president as the poly silicon business division of Hanwha Chemical and president in charge of management efficiency at Hanwha E&C before he was promoted to president of Hanwha Corp.¡¯s Explosives Division last October.
The latest reshuffle followed a similar personnel change of executives involving presidents of Hanwha Q Cells, Hanwha Total and Hanwha Land Systems.
Earlier, Senior Executive Vice President Kim Hee-cheol was promoted to president of Hanwha Q Cells, replacing his predecessor Nam Sung-woo, who tendered his resignation, citing health problems. Senior Executive Vice President Kwon Hyuck-ung of Hanwha Corp. in charge of holding company management division was promoted to president of Hanwha Total.
President Sohn Jae-il of Hanwha Land Systems was transferred to president of Hanwha Corp. in charge of holding company management division. President Hanwha Defense Lee Sung-soo concurrently serves as president of Hanwha Land Systems.
