New CEO Lee spells out his plan to make BC Card the top credit card firm providing the best service to customers

President Lee Kang-tae of BC Card said he will take up a campaign that will give the highest value to the company’ s employees through the convergence of finance and communication during his inaugural speech on Aug. 6 at the company’ s conference room.
In his speech at the ceremony, which was rather like a presentation of his management plan as the company’ s new CEO, he projected that the credit card market would be developed like a marketing market with big data analysis and a mobile card that can be marketed as a base. He said the credit card companies are faced with a load of problems created by such crises as the European debt crisis, the sluggish domestic market, and excessive household debts, which are detrimental to economic development and tend to stymie the growth of the credit card business and its profits and results in cuts in fees for member firms °™ all of them tough problems for credit card firms to solve.
“In order to overcome those problems, we have to be confident in ourselves and focus on the areas in which the company excels and reform its operation to be centered on customer values in order to make the company strong, but small,” Lee said, adding that opportunities always come after crises.
The new CEO said the credit card company ought to upgrade its operation to be the top in the business by fusing finance and communication and strengthening customer service. He added that the mobile settlement platform will be made to open a new age for a new mobile card through member firms.
Lee said, “With such determination, we will explore the new business territory using the convergence of finance and communication and create a market that provides more values to customers and member firms than are expected so that we will become a top convergence marketing company in the world under the BC Card’ s vision.”
In order to realize the vision, the CEO said the company should introduce a smart working environment and a creative management system to build its core capacity as a financial service processing company to provide top financial processing services; build an effective system for process innovation; secure strong big date analysis capacity and marketing leadership through a mobile solution by mixing finance and ICT; and create strategic tie-ups with global players and seek out and focus on new business models.
Lee said he will see to it that the company occupies the top of each customer’ s mind all the time and, at the same time, make it a pleasant workplace so that each employee can have pride in working for the company that many want to work for, calling on all employees to share passion and creativity and march ahead.
Born in 1953, Lee is a graduate of Korea University with a degree in economics. He joined LG Distribution in 1979 where he held many key positions including director. He later moved to Samsung Tesco as vice president and then became president of HanaSK from 2009.
He currently is chairman of the Korea CIO Forum and member of the Korea Financial Committee and the committee’ s financial development deliberation member. 
He earned a doctorate degree in economics from Myungji University Graduate School.
