Korea Testing Laboratory is strengthening support to help Gyeongsangnam-do nurture specialized industries such as defense, electrical/electronics and plant engineering equipment.
To this end, KTL announced a package of steps on Aug. 30 to assist companies in the provincial area. The institution will inaugurate the Changwon Corporate Support Center serving companies in Changwon in October. KTL will operate programs to offer differential corporate support to companies in the provincial area, while steps to ramp up SMEs¡¯ competitiveness will be in place.
The corporate support programs include joint planning of state-invested projects, technology development and professional educational programs.
KTL is spearheading job creation to comply with the government¡¯s policies as a public organization and fulfill its social responsibility. The institution is joining forces in creating good jobs like the expanded employment of regional gifted manpower and converting of non-regular employees into regular ones. In 2017, KTL hired nine employees from the provincial area, which accounted for 16 percent of a total of 56. The percentage was up from 8 percent in the previous year.
The institution continues to purchase agro-fisheries products from traditional markets to promote shared growth with the local community while delivering gifts to the underprivileged of the region during traditional Korean festivals. Goods KTL has purchased from traditional markets since 2015 amounted to accumulative 420 million won.
KTL, the nation¡¯s sole public integrated testing certification institution, will establish an aerospace parts testing center at the Sangpyeong Industrial Complex in Jinju, which is to be put into service in late 2019.
The center is a testing facility designed to offer specialized testing services in accordance with the nation¡¯s implementing projects to industrialize aerospace parts and national aerospace development programs.
The center will be outfitted with orbit environment, launch environment and electromagnetic wave testing labs on a lot of 5,940 sq. meters at a total cost of 27.1 billion won. An avionics technology center will be established in the neighborhood of the center, contributing to the development of the aerospace industry in the region.
