Railway Industry Information Center posts materials from Railway Museum and KR¡¯s publication hall on website

The Korea Rail Network Authority (KR) opened a cyber railway museum on Aug. 21 designed to offer a glance at the history of the development of the Korean railway industry and the rapid strides. The Railway Industry Information Center posted the Railway Museum in Uiwang, Gyeonggi-do, and KR¡¯s publication hall in Dong-gu, Daejeon, to make a ¡°cyber museum.¡±
Each video carries expert commentator, so viewers can get a glimpse into the history and the development of the Korean railway industry by logging on to the museum site.
Via the cyber museum, people can look at the Hall of Railway History containing the chronology and development process of the industry, ranging from the opening of the Gyeongin Line, the nation¡¯s first railway line connecting Noryangjin, Seoul, and Incheon, to the construction of Gyeongbu, honam, Suseo high-speed lines.
A look into the Railway Construction Hall is about the process of railway construction and related technologies. The Library contains tales of railway people, relics and historic monuments.
It takes on significance that the general public is able to gain access to information about railway regardless of time and space without visiting a physical museum.
General Manager Ahn Byung-sun of the Railway Industry Information Center said more people are advised to visit the cyber museum to look into the traces of the Korean railway industry. You can log at the website of the Railway Industry Information Center at www.kric.go.kr.

In-House Railway Construction & Facility Management Expert Group Formed
The KR recently began to operate an in-house railway construction & facility management expert group. The group is composed of 112 experts in 12 fields, including bridge and power, and 98 trainees.
The group involves a review into the introduction of high-tech and new technologies, screening and consulting services as well as academic activities and the writing of overseas railway project proposals. The learners with the ranks of director or less and 10 year career or less are given the chance to learn and share expertise and experiences from the experts while working together.
KR Chairman Kim Sang-gyun said, ¡°The in-house expert group will play leading roles in making the corporation be reborn into a global railway expert institution.¡±
