GKL President Yoo presides over a first management innovation meeting of chiefs of offices, shops and teams from GKL headquarters and there business outlets on June 25.
President Yoo Tae-yeol of Korea¡¯s casino operator Grand Korea Leisure said he will devote himself to enhancing competiveness by securing new growth engines while instilling vitality to the moribund organization. He made the remarks while delivering his inaugural speech as he took office at the GKL Academy on June 15.
¡°I will improve the working conditions suiting the situation of the field so that all staffers can work hard and feel a sense of reward and pride, lend an ear to their grievances and complaints and reflect on them,¡± President Yoo said.
Yoo promised to devote himself to gaining trust not only from shareholders and customers but also from the people by strengthening transparent, fair, and ethical management as well as responsible management.
Following his inauguration ceremony, President Yoo held a ceremony to sign an agreement on co-prosperity between labor and management with GKL labor union chief Chun Jin-soo in which both sides agreed on a declaration to commit to ensuring balanced labor-management development, integrating corporate culture, fulfilling social responsibility as a public entity.
President Yoo, a graduate of the 27th class of senior police cadets, held such positions as chief of the information management division at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, presidential secretary in charge of public order, head of the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency, and chief of the Daejeon Metropolitan Police Agency.
GKL President Presides over Management Innovation Meeting
Under the stewardship of President Yoo, GKL has entered into management innovation mode.
He presided over the first meeting of chiefs of offices, shops and teams from GKL headquarters and their business outlets, including executives at GKL headquarters on June 25. He urged them to work with a more innovative mindset.
The management innovation meeting was designed to analyze problems stemming from the evaluation of the business performances of public entities for the year 2017 and explore measures to improve them in order to be reborn as a public enterprise trusted by the people.
President Yoo expounded the four management steps for innovation — strengthening efforts to realize social values and social volunteer activities; committing to ensuring transparent, honest, ethical management and responsibility management; reorganization to efficiently cope with management evaluations & holding each unit body¡¯s management innovating meetings and sharing outcomes among all staffers; and inaugurating an communication management office to ramp up external and internal communication with a focus on strengthened communication with field staffers. President Yoo called for faster innovation.
GKL, a subsidiary of Korea Tourism Organization that operates the Seven Luck casino, a foreigner-exclusive casino, is a public enterprise established for the following purposes to attract more foreign tourists to enhance the international competitiveness of the Korean casino industry and to use the revenue generated from casino operations to invest in building tourism-related infrastructures and public projects.
