Korea Land & Housing Corp. (LH) held a ceremony to declare LH¡¯s vision to realize social values with about 200 people, including dignitaries from parliament and social value experts, in attendance at the Kim Koo Museum & Library on June 27.
Early this year, LH President Park Sang-woo suggested realization of social values as management buzzwords. Since then, LH President Park had built a foundation for the realization of social values by inaugurating a task force and taking steps to change mindsets and ramp up capabilities and others until the end of March. Starting April, LH had extended an ear to the voices of LH staff, outside experts and people through LH executives and staff members¡¯ meetings before the corporation unveiled its vision on social values and strategies.
In a welcoming speech at the event, LH President Park said, ¡°Gaining trust from people should be a basis of LH management, and social values will be realized through changes and innovation.¡± LH will devote itself to making aggressive investments and refined efforts to make people¡¯s home and workplace a happy space, he said.
In her speech, Minister Kim Hyun-mee of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) called for LH to fulfill its responsibilities and roles by implementing such state tasks as a ¡°Housing Roadmap¡± and ¡°Urban Regeneration New Deal¡± projects without interruption. He urged the corporation to provide housing support so the underprivileged are no longer unattended, play an active role in the urban regeneration projects and do their best to create good jobs.
Rep. Suh Hyung-soo said, ¡°Realization of social values is a fundamental responsibility of public entities.¡± He expressed hope that efforts of the nation¡¯s representative public entity to realize social values will spread to other public entities.
Catholic Priest Song Kyung-yong said realization of social values is ¡°going back to basics, the original purpose of the establishment of public entities.¡± He asked for LH, recognizing people¡¯s housing stability as its foremost value, to further expand public interests and put it into practice by lending an ear to the voices of people.
In his commemorative video message, Former National Assembly Speaker Chung Se-kyung gave thanks for LH¡¯s leading role to realize social values. He called for the corporation to devote itself to stabilizing low-income families¡¯ housing, realizing balanced regional development and protect the underprivileged.
LH¡¯s vision ¡°Happy Space to Connect People and the World, with LH¡± is the corporation¡¯s commitment and promise with people to make people¡¯s home and workplace happy spaces, and make a world in which all people can live well together with none being disconnected and isolated.
The corporation came up with five core values to realize the vision – ¡°back to initial determination, stabling housing, seeking co-prosperity, honest communication, and conscience of society¡± – which contain 13 social values, including human rights, safety, health welfare, environment, co-prosperity/cooperation, contribution to regional economy, job creation, restoration of community, protection of the underprivileged, ethical/social responsibility, and realization of community interests.
LH also presented detailed goals the corporation will strive to achieve for the next 10 years – through 2027 – in order to realize the five core values. The corporation plans to establish a detailed master plan to realize the vision and goals in July.
