CJ Chmn. Calls for ¡®Super¡¯ Competitive Edge in Global Market
CJ Group is accelerating efforts to expand presence in global market, with goal of being the ¡°World Best CJ,¡± calling for three or more businesses to be a global No. 1 player by 2030

CJ Group Chairman Lee Jay-hyun, marking one year in his return to management, reconfirmed his determination to achieve the goal of rising to ¡°World Best CJ¡± by 2030. Chairman Lee said global market entry is a requisite not a choice.
He made the comments at the 2018 ONLYONE Camp at the CJ Gifted Manpower Institute in Seoul on May 16.
Looking back at his achievements for the past year, Chairman Lee said, ¡°I extend thanks for efforts and passion of executives and staff who have understood our ambitious dream and made significant outcomes at their respective positions.¡±
Chairman Lee stressed the significance of CJ¡¯s global ascent. He said enhancing Korea¡¯s national status and leading culture and lifestyle among people around the world by being a global No. 1 company, will mean the accomplishing of a mission of serving the state by nurturing businesses. If CJ becomes a global No. 1 company, he said, it will achieve the vision of being a ¡°World Best CJ¡± by 2030, going beyond the goal of being ¡°Great CJ¡± by 2020.
Lee called for each business division to be armed with a ¡°super¡± competitive edge in the global market. Requiring a super capability enough to rout first- and second-runner-ups to be a global No. 1 company is the ¡°ONLYONE¡± strategy CJ is pursuing, he said. ¡°If each division secures a super capability, continues to evolve and innovate, CJ will be recognized as a full-fledged global life and culture company by the world,¡± he said.
CJ executives and staff pledged to ramp up solidarity to achieve the goal.
Chairman Lee emphasized that ¡°CJ has carried out businesses state and the times want, and we have a history of having made it with our determination and desperation in business areas, which remained untapped or believed to be unfeasible.¡±
He urged them to be full of drive and arm themselves with self-confidence by working in a cheerful fashion and pursuing only the best outcomes.
CJ Group¡¯s accelerated efforts in the global market call for raising sales to 100 trillion won by 2020 and for three or more businesses to be a ¡°global No. 1¡± player by 2030.
Chairman Lee has been restructuring the group¡¯s business portfolio with a focus on food, bio, logistics, and entertainment to brace itself for the future since May 2017 when he returned to management one year ago. CJ Cheiljedang integrated the conventional food, biotic resources, bio and materials into food and bio sectors. CJ acquired an additional equity in CJ Logistics to make it CJ¡¯s subsidiary. CJ Fooville split the brand Twosome Place into an independent entry by attracting investments to secure new growth momentum. CJ O Shopping and CJ E&M will be merged in July to inaugurate CH ENM, the nation¡¯s first convergence content commerce company.
The ONLYONE Conference coincided with a ceremony to award executives and staff members who achieved higher performances for the last one year. The conference was attended by about 350 executives and staff members, including CJ Chairman Lee.
