Kumho Asiana Group is making diverse efforts to enhance its competitiveness and fundamentals so its subsidiaries can achieve management¡¯s goals. Asiana Airlines, marking the 30th anniversary this year, declared the new catchphrase ¡°A Beautiful Way to the World.¡± It symbolizes an airliner ¡°making a beautiful walk with stakeholders¡± and moving toward a wider world.
Asiana Airlines plans to dramatically enhance mid- and long-haul flights. The airliner will open its first two new routes since 2015 when it launched a flight to Rome. Asiana Airlines will become the sole Korean national flag carrier to open a flight to Venice in May and a flight to Barcelona in August.
New flights to Venice and Barcelona will bring to seven the number of flights flying from and to Europe. The frequency of flights to Chicago will increase while the airliner will forge a strategic alliance with major U.S. airliners to widen a base for ticket sales to Americas.
Asiana Airlines, which became the first Korean flag carrier to introduce four A350s last year, plans to bring in two more A350s to put them on long-haul flights and replace the existing ones. The Korean airliner plans to secure 32 passenger aircraft for long-haul flights by 2022 and put them on 19 long-haul flight routes so they account for 60 percent of all long-haul flights.
The airliner will ramp up network competitiveness through proper role sharing with Air Seoul and Air Pusan on short-haul routes and introduce A321neo with fuel efficiency to improve profitability.
