For
the duration of the 2018 PyeongChang Paralympics, a unique kind of travel
festival will take place along Gangneung’s coffee street under the theme of
“Spring Ocean Coffee Journey, ‘Do you enjoy coffee on a spring’s day?’”
○ From March 9th through the 18th, this
spring coffee journey festival will open each day from 12 noon until 5pm at
pine grove at Haemaji Park, the entrance to Gangneung coffee street. Here
several programs are prepared including a pine grove picnic under the theme of
a spring day's coffee trip, a place to relax with hammocks and teepees, and
coffee tree mini-garden, and a photo zone with a sculpture that resembles a
coffee bean.
○ And on the
weekend, several types of programs are in store with a coffee and mug flea
market, and a coffee bean market. Also, because Gangneung will be the host for
the Korean Association of Lifelong Learning Cities and the Korea Reading
Festival in Gangneung, a romantic book cafe is planned to offer a place where
"coffee travelers" can enjoy reading and meetings amidst an aroma of
coffee.
○ Also,
there will be various types of unique events taking place for visitors to enjoy
such as writing wishes in calligraphy, various promotional events, stilt
walkers and statue mimes, fun for all ages.
General
manager, Lee Jong-deok of the Gangneung Coffee Festival that is being made
ready revealed, “I look forward to athletes from Korean and abroad, as well as
visitors to come out when the weather is fine to have a spoonful of the romance
of the coffee sea and hope many visitors will stop by the coffee bean market
and coffee flea market.
