NH Investment and Securities launched its Vietnam subsidiary, NH Securities Vietnam, on Feb. 9.
The Korean securities firm entered Vietnam in 2009 for the first time after taking a 49 percent stake in CBV Securities. Since then the Korean securities firm managed the Vietnamese securities firm as a partner. A year ago, the company took over the entire stake and made it a subsidiary.
President Kim Won-kyu of NH Investment and Securities said the securities industry is faced with abrupt changes in its environment, with global securities markets sudden shift.
He said the new Vietnamese subsidiary should seek long-term profits rather than focusing on short-term results, growing together with the local securities market.
The new wholly-owned subsidiary will engage in such traditional business lines as providing financial services to individuals and corporations, investment banking, portfolio investment and asset management, among others, led by President Moon Young-tai, managing director in charge of the IB division for NH Investment and Securities.
Attending a ceremony held in Hanoi included Vu Chijung, chief of the International Cooperation Bureau of the Vietnamese Securities Commission, Vu Hwanghai, manager of the Securities Supervisory Division of Vietnamese Securities Commission and President Kim Won-kyu of NH Investment and Securities, among others.
