Dong-A Pharmaceutical Co. has released the Capillus Capsule, a drug to treat hair loss, the company said on Jan. 15. The drug contains nutrients essential for growing hair, such as including keratin, a strong natural protein that forms hair and nails, ¡°L-Cystine,¡± Vitamin B1, and Vitamin B5.
The Capillus Capsule is proved to be effective in treating impaired hair, poor growth of nails, and supplementary treatment of hair loss. Patients suffering from hair loss regardless of gender are on the rise, particularly surging among youth in their 20s and 30s, a Dong-A Pharmaceutical Co. official said.
The Capullus Capsule, found to be effective in preventing and treating hair loss, will likely ease worries and apprehension of patients suffering from hair loss, he added.
A report by the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRA) showed that the number of patients suffering from hair loss increased from 203,305 in 2012 to 212,916 in 2016. In particular, those in their 30s accounted for 26.9 percent of the total, the highest demographic, followed by 25.4 percent of youth in their 20s and 23 percent among those in their 40s.
The Capillus Capsule can be made available at drugstores as an over-the-counter drug. One pack, which carries two sets of 90 capsules, is enough for a two-month dose. Patients can take one capsule three times per day.

Dong-A Pharmaceutical Invited to Vietnamese Population Policy Conference
Dong-A Pharmaceutical Co. participated in the Vietnamese 2018 Population Policy Conference that took place in Hanoi on Jan. 30 and 31. The conference is an annual event designed to promote birth control and ensure efficient population management for Vietnam, which has a population of 100 million people. During the conference, participants reviewed the achievements of last year and held consultations on 2018 policies.
Among about 400 people on hand at the event were Dong-A Pharmaceutical President Choi Ho-jin; Dong-A Socio Holdings President Han Jong-hyun; and Vietnamese Health Vice Minister Nguyen Van Tan. Dong-A Pharmaceutical was invited to the conference by the Vietnamese Family Planning Bureau under the umbrella of the Ministry of Health. Under an MOU by signed Dong-A Pharmaceutical and the Vietnamese bureau, the Korean pharmaceutical company decided to provide contraceptive pills and conduct an educational program on products and marketing to local sales people.
One of Vietnam¡¯s population control policies is to encourage women in a childbearing age to take oral contractive pills. Women in a childbearing age ¡ª aged between 20 and 39 ¡ª stand at an estimated 15.7 million, about 12 percent of which are believed to take oral contraceptive pills.
During the conference, Dong-A Pharmaceutical President Choi introduced Dong-A Socio Group and contraceptive pills produced by the pharmaceutical company and announced a plan on future supply of contraceptive pills. Dong-A Socio Holdings President Han said his group plans to contribute to the improving the quality of Vietnamese lives by supplying excellent medicines of the group, and the group is committed to fulfilling its social responsibility in Vietnam as a business partner of the Southeast Asian country, not just supplying medicines
