Yuhan Corp. (President Lee Jung-hee) won the Presidential Citation in the 41st National Productivity Award in recognition of the company¡¯s achievements to contribute to the health of the human race by producing excellent medicine under the slogan of ¡°Great Yuhan, Global Yuhan.¡± All of the officers and staff did their best to make the company contribute to society.
Yuhan Corp. continuously put out new pharmaceutical products and strengthened its global operation through cooperation with multinational firms to boost its sales both at home and overseas. In 2013, the company reached a milestone in the export of medical products, reaching $100 million, which was followed by 1 trillion won in domestic sales the following year.
From 2013, the company¡¯s sales grew 12 percent annually, with profit rising 19 percent in addition to getting named an ¡°All Star Enterprise¡± in the pharmaceutical sector for 14 years in a row. The company also won an award in the sector of image value (2016) and a management award in the social value sector (2015).
Yuhan Corp. also reformed its R&D and strengthened its roles my making advances in the global pharmaceutical market. The company invested in the stakes in professional R&D institutions like Bionia, Genezin, Pharmepxin and Biopoa, among others, along with direct undertaking of R&D in pharmaceutical areas to bring reform to R&D of pharmacy through its Open Innovation Strategy. As a result, the company has been able to secure 10 pipelines to boost productivity.
Last year, the company invested 1.2 billion won in Sorento Co., a professional R&D company and set up the joint-venture ¡°Imunonsia¡± in Korea to strengthen its partnership with global business firms through stake investments in such global companies as Neoimuntech, Genesco and others for joint R&D. This year, the company has been setting up local corporations abroad to do its share as a global firm.
The company was able to boost the number of employees to 1,747 this year from 1,501 in 2014 by extending the retirement age and practicing a ¡°peak salary¡± system. In order to build educational infrastructure, the company opened an educational institute at the Central Research Institute in 2016. For the past two years, the company remodeled its branches and the head office to improve the welfare environment for employees, while relocating its dormitory for employees and opening a fitness center for them.
The company has been operating a number of committees, including an operation committee for employees, a new product introduction committee, a research committee, and a public relations committee to spur internal communication as the company moves form a dynamic and creative corporate culture ceaselessly.
Yuhan Corp. is to take over the ideals of founder Il-han New and continue to develop them, while doing its social responsibility through its CSR Team, which was newly set up.
