Daewoo Engineering and Construction plans to put the Sanggae New Town Central Prugio Complex up for sale at the end of July. Residents who will occupy the 810 apartment units have lauded the development for its amenities, including its close proximity to subway stations, schools and natural environment, among others.
The apartments, situated in seven buildings that are 24 stories tall (with three basement floors), range from 39 sq. meters to as large as 104 sq. meters in size.
Daewoo E&C said units 444 will be sold to general buyers. The sizes of those units ranges from 48 sq. meters to 84 sq. meters, which will be the first group of apartments sold since the designation of the area as New Town in December, 2005. Only three areas were designated as the special areas for apartment complexes since 2005, leaving a shortage of land for apartments in the Sanggae-dong area, Nowon District.
The Sanggae Central Prugio is easily accessible to Sanggae Station, on the No. 4 Subway Line, only a five minute walk away. The Tongbuk Light Electric Train Line is being promoted for construction from Sanggae-dong to link Wangshim-ri Station, to make the transportation conditions of the area even more convenient. The electric line project requiring 1.575 trillion won to build is likely to be completed in 2022.
The complex is the first one to be put up for sale since Sanggae New Town.
A number of schools are close to the development, with primary, middle and high schools within walking distance. The educational facilities in Junggae-dong, one of the three special educational special districts in Seoul, are only 7 minutes by car from the complex, while a number of parks in Mount Surak are accessible. Also easily accessible are major shopping malls including Lotte Mart, Hanaro Mart and Lotte Department Store.
A number of empty lots for future development projects are also located close to the complex. A lot with a total space of 980,000 sq. meters in space located in the Sanggae-dong and Chang-dong area is slated for large multicultural and job creation facilities, which are expected to attract many people and create jobs, spurring the economy of the area to take off.
A model house will be on display at 172-1, Sanggae-dong, Nowon District, Seoul, from the end of July. Officials of Daewoo E&C said unlike the new apartment complex, the rebuilt apartment complexes like those in New Towns have good access to transportation, shopping and educational facilities because they are located in very good areas. Daewoo E&C expended their business into Libya and Nigeria, pioneering new markets with good achievements, which brought the Korean builder a chance to reach out its business to the that part of the world naturally. Following the outbreak of Iran-Iraq war in 1984, Khorramshahr port, the biggest trade port of Iran, was disabled. As a result, Iran had no choice but to shift the distribution foothold to the only available port, Bandar Abbas port, for which the construction of a railway was inevitable. In 1984, Daewoo E&C won a contract to construct the Lot 6 of the Bandar Abbas-Bafgh railway, which became its first stepping into the Iranian market. Starting these, Daewoo E&C continued expending its business into Saudi Arabia and Iran, carrying out projects including the construction of fire extinguishing facilities and the installation fire detection systems worth $15.25 million for Saudi Arabian oil company Aramco in 1994. Additionally, the company consecutively won contracts to construct the Lots 4-B and 4-A of Bandar Abbas-Bafgh railway.
Daewoo E&C did well in difficult mountainous terrain and rugged environments, carrying out a variety of construction projects, including the restoration construction of Kharg Island oil terminal in 1991.
Daewoo E&C extended its entrance into other Middle Eastern countries, including Qatar, Oman and UAE. It successfully undertook diverse construction projects.
The Korean builder proved its reputation to those governments and residents of their countries. In particular, the successful construction of Qatar repair dockyard and Oman Duqm repair dockyard, the first construction of its kind in the Gulf region, made a big contribution to the regional development.
