By strengthening its own quality assurance and safety management with a fundamental reform of nuclear safety and quality controls, as well as by actively engaging in the safety audits of regulatory agencies, safety inspections of the government and special inspections of international agencies, KHNP is striving to ensure safety from multiple angles. Ex-KHNP takes helm of KHNP
Former Vice Minister Lee Kwan-sup of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) took office as president of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) in a brief, informal ceremony at the KHNP headquarters in Gyeongju, Geyongsangbuk-do, just to get down to business. Lee stressed the ensuring of top-level safety as the company¡¯s foremost value.
¡°We have to be supported by trust of diverse stakeholders, including people and the regional community, and to this end, I will make every effort to realize an open corporate culture by boosting inside communication based on respect and reliability toward staff above all.¡± Lee said. ¡°The United Arab Emirates nuclear plant is built with our own technology since 2009, and I will devote myself to raising the nation¡¯s overseas standing by implementing projects to support the operation of nuclear power units and exporting them overseas.¡± he added.
Unlike his predecessors who released a news release and announced management tasks, new KHNP President Kim turned to his first job after a brief ceremony with his executives and staff members paying about 1.6 trillion won in national and regional taxes, including about 300 billion in regional taxes. Out of the regional taxes KHNP shouldered, the Gyeongju municipal government received 74.9 billion won, accounting for 19.7 percent of the city¡¯s total annual tax revenues. KHNP became the highest regional tax payment company to the city government.
KHNP Wins 2016 Safety Management Grand Prize
KHNP was presented with the Safety Management Grand Prize at the 2016 Global Standard Management Awards ceremony at the Seoul Grand Hilton on Nov. 2.
Organized by the Korea Management Association and hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) and the Small and Medium Business Administration (SMBA), Global Standard Management Awards are presented with the goal of improving global competitiveness in the industry community as well as exploring and spreading excellent management practices. Award-winning companies and institutions are required to undergo a three-stage screening process based on stern evaluations standards. Global Standard Management Awards are composed of eight categories, including safety management, quality management, green management, and social contributions.
