The Korea Electrical Safety Corporation (KESCO) is working with the Korea Electrical Contractors Association (KECA) in order to build infrastructure for electrical safety improvement in Vietnam.
To this end, KESCO president Lee Sang-kwon and KECA chairman Jang Chul-ho signed a technical cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Industry & Trade of Vietnam in Hanoi on June 14.
The agreement includes joint inspection and precise diagnoses of electrical equipment, expansion of infrastructure regarding electrical safety and technical personnel and the dispatch of South Korean experts to Vietnam for the establishment of electrical safety management systems there.
In the meantime, a group of volunteer workers, executives, and staff members of the KESCO and the KECA visited a local village school on the outskirts of the capital city of Vietnam on the afternoon of June 14 after the signing ceremony. There, they conducted an electrical safety inspection, repaired bathrooms and shower booths and installed rides for children. The Korea Electrical Safety Corp. (KESC) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Korea Legislation Research Institute (KLRI) for the development of legislation on electrical safety on July 20 at the main office of the Korea Electrical Safety Corp.
At the signing ceremony held with the attendance of President Lee Won of KLRI; President Lee Sang-kwon of the Korea Electrical Safety Corp; and staff members of the institutions, they pledged to cooperate in improving the legal system for the people's safety and to exchange human resources.
The scope of major activities under the MOU includes: (1) Legal advice on electrical safety and consulting services on law-making skills; (2) Assistance and mutual cooperation in the improvement of systems for electrical safety and legislative policies thereon; and (3) joint research on legislation concerning electrical safety.
At the signing ceremony, President Lee Won remarked, "I hope this MOU will contribute to the development of legislation on electrical safety in Korea, and we will make every effort to render assistance in research and cooperate in related fields."
President Lee Sang-kwon, commented, "This MOU will become a case in point in cooperation between Government 3.0 participants. We will endeavor, more than ever, to strengthen the legal basis for the national electrical safety management system through promotion of legal research on electrical safety."

The DNV GL Singapore office hosted a delegation of five from KESCO on April 5. The KESCO delegation plans to also visit the DNV GL Energy global headquarters in the Arnhem, the Netherlands from the April 6-8.
