Dong-A Pharmaceutical has stressed the need to prevent tooth diseases, particularly when it comes to the protection of gums, which is considered essential in ensuring the longevity of teeth. 

Gums consist of gingiva, periodontal ligament and periodontal bone to hold teeth while chewing food. Gum diseases related to the above parts are deadly when combined with smoking, hormones, connection of irregularities, and family disease records. The exact causes of the diseases are gum germs. 

Dental plaque is a biofilmor mass of bacteria that grows on surfaces within the mouth. It is a sticky colorless deposit at first, but when it forms tartar, it is brown or pale yellow that is commonly found between the teeth, front of teeth, behind teeth, on the chewing surface, along the gumline, or below the gumline cervical margins. 

It causes diverse inflammations, ranging from givitis, the inflammation of gingival, to periodontitis, the inflammation of periodontal ligament, which could lead to the extracting of teeth. 

A study on the frequencies of diseases conducted in 2015 showed that bronchial diseases topped the list, followed by dental diseases, which are spreading in diverse age groups, young and old. Gum diseases are generally deemed as the ones affecting those in middle and advanced age, but patients tend to be on the rise in younger age groups. 

“Gum Guard Gaglin,” an antiseptics mouth wash product, released by Dong-A Pharmaceutical, is effective in preventing dental diseases. The antiseptics product comprises of such essential substances as sodium monofluorophosphate (SMFP), cetylpyridium chloride (CPC) and glycyrrhizin dipotassium (GK2), proved to be effective in preventing gum diseases and cavities, as well as tocopheryl acetate (TPA) and panthenol, which is noted for protecting the gums. A clinical evaluation of the product’s sterilizing power showed that the antiseptics product is proven to kill 99.9 percent of P. Gingivalis, a germ that causes gum diseases and S. Mutans, a germ that causes cavities. A six-week clinical test also indicated the efficacy of preventing or easing gingivitis and periodontitis.

Users are advised to wash their mouths with Gum Guard Gaglin three times daily after brushing teeth. It’s suggested they put about 10 to 15 ml of the liquid in their mouth for 30 seconds before spitting it out; and it would be better to also brush the gums. 

“The gums are one of the human organs that people find the most difficult to repair if undermined or damaged, so it is very important to turn to preventive management,” a Dong-A Pharmaceutical official said. He expressed hope the Gum Guard Gaglin, proven to be effective in preventing gum diseases by sterilizing 99.9 percent of P. Gingivalis Germ, will establish itself as a primary option.
