Korea Electrical Safety Corp. supervises annual event hosted by Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy that calls for prevention of electrical accidents in the country

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy hosted the 2016 Korea Electrical Safety Grand Award Ceremony at The K Hotel in Yangjae-dong, Seoul, on Nov. 9 with over 500 people from electricity-related government agencies, organizations, and state-run and private companies attending. Korea Electrical Safety Corp.(KESCO) supervises the annual event

At the ceremony, the 19th, the awards are presented to those in the areas of electrical safety in the power industry in recognition of meritorious contributions to safeguarding electrical safety to make society free of electrical accidents or mishaps.

President Lee Sang-kwon of KESCO, in his congratulatory speech, said safety is the foundation and starting point for everything, calling for unity among the population to work toward making Korea the safest in the world when it comes to electrical safety.

Winning the top award this year, the industrial merit Silver Tower Medal, was Managing Director Shin Sang-moon of LG Display for his contributions to reforming the electrical safety management system at the company¡¯s jobsites to prevent electrical accidents. SBS TV Announcer Kim Min-ah presided over the ceremony.

The Prime Ministerial Citation went to four individuals and a local autonomous organization. They were the Cheongju Municipal Government and Director Lee Seok-kyu of Yeochon NCC; Manager Lim Moon-hi of Korea Rural Community Corp.; Manager Huh Young of the  LSIS .; and Director Kim Sang-ho of Donghi Auto Co. 

President Park Keun-wook of SeAH Electric Wire and Director Oh Dong-seok of Sambo Motors won the Industrial Citation. The Presidential Citation went to Electrical Engineer Lee Young-han of the 65th Division of the Korean Army and Headquarters Manager Lee Kyung-nam of the Korea Electrical Safety Corp. Clerk Lim Sang-yoon of the Cheongju Municipal Government Local Industry Dept. won the Individual Prime Ministerial Citation. Headquarters Manager Hwang Soon-hong of the Korea Midland Power Co. won the Individual Award, while the Samsung Seoul Hospital and OCI Co. Kunsan Plant won the Group Presidential Citation. The Chungpa EMT Co. clinched the Group Prime Ministerial Citation. A total of 44 government medals, prizes and citations were presented at the ceremony. 

On the sidelines of the event was an exhibition of electrical safety initiatives by those who won the awards.
