CJ Jeiljedang is expanding its global presence in such sectors as bio and biotic resources. The company, which set in motion a bio plant in Malaysia, is eager to enter the methionine market. Methionine is a feed additive. If livestock eats feed containing methionine, they can grow faster due to enhanced bowel activities and nutrient absorption, the official said.
CJ Jeiljedang has decided to expand its overseas production base in the biotic resources sector. The company has a long-term target to become among the top 10 companies in the world. It plans to concentrate on developing advanced animal feed, with a focus on its R&D centers in Korea, China and Vietnam.
The food business unit is trying to explore overseas markets by making the most of stabilized domestic demand. By making the most of the ¡°Bibigo,¡± a global integrated hansik (Korean food) brand, the company is striving to promote traditional Korean cuisine culture overseas. CJ Fodville¡¯s Bibigo restaurants across the world serve as channels to publicize hansik¡¯s prominence. People who have experienced Korean cuisine will be encouraged to buy processed foods produced by CJ Jeiljedang and enjoy them at home. CJ Jeiljedang has five strategic exports, including refrigerated mandu (dumpling) and kimchi. CJ Foodville runs 14 Bibigo outlets in six countries, including the United States and United Kingdom.
CJ, which operates some 230 outlets in 10 countries under such other brands as Tous Les Jours, Twosome Coffee and Vips, devotes itself to realizing a vision of making people around the world eat Korean food once or twice a month. As part of efforts to expand volunteer activities, CJ operates bread-making schools in such countries as Indonesia and Vietnam. CJ Korea Express is trying to explore overseas platforms and ramp up its international logistics business with the goal of becoming a top-five logistics company by 2020.
CJ E&M, CJ Group¡¯s integrated content unit, is entering the Vietnamese and Thai content and advertising markets through M&As and the establishment of joint ventures. TvN Asia, established by CJ E&M in Hong Kong in 2009, is airing broadcasting programs to 10 countries, including Taiwan. The company is now hitting the accelerator to tap the Southeast Asian market.
CJ E&M established True CJ Creation, a joint venture with True Visions, one of Thailand¡¯s biggest integrated media companies. CJ E&M also acquired Blue Group, an influential Vietnamese content production and advertising agency, and inaugurated it as CJ Blue, the company said on Oct. 16.
¡°The successive establishment of localized enterprises is in keeping with strategies to choose Vietnam and Thailand as platforms to enter the Southeast Asian market,¡± a CJ E&M official said.
