KEPCO KPS Pres. Tae Awarded Order of Industrial Service, Silver Tower
For his managerial skills in the development of technology and manpower and zero defect in product quality
President Tae Sung-eun of the KEPCO Plant Service and Engineering Co.(KEPCO KPS) is the winner of the Order of Industrial Service, Silver Tower of the 2012 Korea National Quality Award for the company¡¯s possession of world-class technologies brought about a heavy investment in the development of technology and manpower.
The company has altogether 390 education processes and operates 44 state-certified internal certification systems and invests 5 percent of its annual sales revenue in R&D activities to possess its own world-class technologies.
The company¡¯s such feat is being owed to President Tae¡¯s management philosophy, according to sources both inside and outside the company. He has been calling for the development of world-class manpower and technology to be able to provide brand-name services and non-defect quality management of the company, which led to Tae clinching the silver medal of the Korea Quality Management Award.
Tae¡¯s non-defect quality management is rooted in his long career working for a nuclear power plant. He joined KEPCO in 1976 and promoted to run the technology, operation and quality dep¡¯ts and the headquarters manager of Wolsung Nuke Power Plant. What he learned at those positions had been a big force to boost the technologies of KEPCO KPS to top world-class levels.
Tae introduced the management strategies of private companies to his company to boost the company¡¯s competitive edge. He set up the Quality Management Award at the company, which has had a big part in lifting the company to be listed on the Korea Service Grand Award Winner Hall of Fame.
Tae¡¯s special management strategies led the company to improve its performance results. The company exported its technologies to foreign countries earning 55.1 billion won last year and operates the operational networks in 25 countries around the world including India. The company earned the $20 Million Export Tower award, although it is a state-run company.
In the meantime, the company has been running a variety of campaigns for quality management. Sticking to basics and regulations, the company has been able to ¡°zero¡± accident rates for seven years in a row through ¡°imQ¡± campaign, saving 19.2 billion won in costs to customer companies. The company also saved 53 billion won since 2010 through ¡°Challenge 6 Sigma¡± campaign from 2010.
President Tae remarked that he will see that the company do its best to be a necessary business partner for its clients in the days ahead.
