Korea Gas Corp. (KOGAS) President Lee Seung-hoon stressed integrity to help the company make a leap forward to become a global energy leader. Lee made the remarks at a ceremony to celebrate the 33rd anniversary of its founding at the International Convention Hall of KOGAS headquarters in Daegu on Aug. 18.
KOGAS President Lee, other executives and staff members pledged to establish itself as a clean energy public entity.
¡°Recognizing the fact that the behavior by executives and staff reflects KOGAS¡¯s standing, you should upgrade our integrity levels while performing your duties, and let¡¯s make one step forward to rise to an integrity-based global energy company,¡± President Lee said.

The company has built natural gas production and supply infrastructure with 69 storage tanks with a capacity of 10.66 million kL, and main pipelines extending 4,520 km in length to raise the percentage of natural gas supply to about 80 percent, improving people¡¯s housing conditions and contributing public benefits and interests.

KOGAS Teams Up with FPE
KOGAS and Fairwood Peninsula Energy (FPE) have joined forces in implementing natural gas pipeline projects in India.
KOGAS said the company signed an MOU on natural gas pipeline projects with FPE at the Seoul Grand InterContinental on June 8. Fairwood is a midstream LNG company focused on providing critical infrastructure for the floating liquefaction industry. Fairwood is trying to export overland natural gas from the United States to overseas markets via floating liquefied natural gas facilities at sea off the Gulf of Mexico
Under the agreement, KOGAS and Fairwood agreed to discuss a joint natural gas pipeline project in the eastern and western regions of India in cooperation with local natural gas companies. The project calls for supplying natural gas through floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs) and overland pipelines stretching about 830 km to such areas as urban districts, industrial complexes and power and fertilizer plants. In the process, Fairwood will be responsible for gas supply and FSRU, while KOGAS will be charged with pipeline projects with local natural gas companies.
¡°Pipeline technologies KOGAS has accumulated over 30 years will play a leading role in the downstream of the natural gas industry,¡± said Chang Jin-seok, head of KOGAS Supply Division, who participated at the signing ceremony.
Fairwood, which maintains a close network with Indian private and state-run companies, is expected to play a pivotal role in the project.
KOGAS will initially make a feasibility study on the project, whose outcomes will determine whether the company will push for its implementation.
If and when KOGAS obtains the go-ahead, the company will devote itself to complying with shared growth policies as a public entity by allowing Korean contractors, equipment companies and banks to participate in the project.
KOGAS plans to strengthen amicable partnerships with the Indian government and local companies by successfully completing the pipeline project in eastern and western India. The company is trying to make the project a platform to expand its presence in India to such businesses as LNG terminal, CNG and city gas.
