President Chun Byung-seong of Korea Environment Corp. (KECO) said he will try to make KECO an organization that people want to work for.

In his inaugural speech at a ceremony held at KECO¡¯s head office in Seoul on July 25, he said he will focus on three major areas of the company¡¯s operation, including reform, creativity and communication.

He said he will work on reform to find new growth engines to sustain the company¡¯s bright future, harmony and communication to make the company that people liked to work for and transparency of the company¡¯s operation to help its employees be creative on their jobs and be fair in handling the company¡¯s work.

Chun said he feels truly proud to join everyone to work for KECO, the top professional organization for environmental affairs in the country, and called for unity among officers and staff to advance the nation¡¯s environmental policies.

The top objective in the three major principles that he will focus on will be reform and creativity in seeking out new growth engines to ensure the company¡¯s and the environmental industry¡¯s future.

The second objective outlined in his speech was to make KECO a workplace that people would like to work for, as the company is still some distance away from becoming a tight organization since it came into being through the merger of the Environmental Management Corp. and Korea Resources Corp. in 2010. He said the company under his management will try to close the gap among employees by being more solidly united to create synergy.

Chun also touched on transparency of the company¡¯s operation with each employee, making clear his objectives. He called for the company to lead the way in the so-called Kim Yong-ran Law among all state-run companies. The law, which goes in effect in September, is intended to clean up immoral and illegal activities in state-run organizations.

Korea Environment Corporation (KECO) is a quasi-governmental organization under the Ministry of Environment and it is aimed at becoming a global, total environment services provider.

Based on its mission to contribute to eco-friendly national development through the improvement of the environment and promotion of resource recycling, KECO carries out nationwide works related to climate, air, water, soil, waste treatment, resource circulation, environmental health and environmental facilities. Due to rapid industrialization, the entire world, including Korea, today suffers from climate change, water shortage and resource depletion. ¡°Our future generations are at greater risk for various environmental issues,¡± the company said.

KECO will continue to improve the public environmental services it is currently carrying out, preserve the environment by continuously developing new environmental services, and focus on realizing environmental welfare for the people.
