Chairman Lee Hoon-beom of Asia Cement Group is about to kick off the second-stage of the cement plant¡¯s push to turn it into a ¡°smart plant¡± by boosting its automated production capabilities.
In order to successfully complete the project, Asia Cement signed a deal for Germany¡¯s Siemens¡¯ Plant Process Headquarters and Drive Business Headquarters to supply the equipment and technology for the second-stage of the automation project, the cement company said recently. Asia Cement is a producer of cement and remicon in Korea.
The cement company¡¯s second-stage automation project involves the Kiln. No. 3, Raw Mill Nos. 1 and 2, Coal Mill Nos. 1 and 2 to be undertaken this year, which marks the cement company¡¯s 50th anniversary.
To help the Korean cement plant¡¯s automation project, Siemens will provide the Cemat Solution, its automation package. Siemens also participated in the Korean cement plant¡¯s first stage automation project in 2014. The second contract is Asia Cement¡¯s acknowledging Siemens for successfully completing its first-stage automation project. The German company will see to it that the Korean cement plant¡¯s Management and Information System will upgrade the transparency of the data from the production process of the cement plant. Also, information on production processes will be connected to form a network.
Siemens will also see to it that the cement plant¡¯s problems can be remotely detected and monitored with equipment that they provided, as they will monitor the production processes in real time. Siemens will also provide training to Asia Cement workers so they can operate the Siemens equipment.
