Hana Financial Group conducted a huge personnel shakeup by replacing the CEOs of its five affiliates, including Hana Life and Hana Card, out of eight CEOs whose terms expire this month. The group expanded its board of directors by two to build a competitive base for the successor to its current chairman.
The group said the executive recommendation committee on March 2 named five CEOs and candidates for the group¡¯s board of directors who are to be officially named at the shareholders¡¯ meeting, which is scheduled for the end of March. Affiliates that will have new CEOs include Hana Card, Hana Life, Hana Savings Bank, Hana F and I, and Hana Finance and Investment.
Among the new CEOs are Kwon Oh-hoon, an economics graduate of Yonsei University who was named to lead Hana Life; and Hwang Jong-sup, a politics and diplomacy graduate of Youngnam University, who is slated to take over Hana Savings Bank as CEO. The two are making a great comeback after resigning from KEB-Hana Bank as vice presidents last year.
Kwon is a career Korea Exchange Bank official who was promoted to vice president at the end of 2014 when the bank was taken over by Hana Bank. He handled the overseas operation for the newly merged KEB Hana Bank and was later reassigned to Hana Group as vice president in charge of the global strategy office.
Hwang is a career banker for Hana Bank, holding key jobs including branch manager of the bank¡¯s Yongsan Operation Headquarters in Seoul and vice president in charge of the Yongnam Area Operation. He was one of the candidates for CEO of the merged bank along with President Ham Young-joo of KEB Hana Bank.
Hana Card CEO-designate Chung Soo-chan won attention inside Hana Bank as he was promoted as vice president as soon as Chairman Kim Jung-tai was named the top official of the financial group. He was assigned to head Hana Card less than a year after he was named to lead Hana Savings Bank.
Hana Finance and Investment CEO-designate Lee Jin-geuk is a graduate of Sungkyunkwan University and is a rare non-financial man who was vice president of Shinhan Finance and Investment while spending some 24 years with the company. He¡¯s known for his expertise in risk management. He had been an outside director for Hana Financial Holdings since 2013.
An official of the group said that Hana Finance and Investment President-designate Lee Jin-geuk was made an outside director of Hana Financial Holdings so he can get used to the operation of Hana Financial before is promoted to head up the company.
His ability has been fully confirmed working under Chairman Kim as an outside director, the official added.
Hana F and I President-designate Chung Kyung-sun was a former manager of the Kangseo Operation Headquarters for Korea Exchange Bank and managing director the Risk Management Group for KEB. He also worked as the managing director of KEB Hana Bank¡¯s East Operation Headquarters before being promoted.
CEO Choo Jin-ho of Hana Capital, President Lee Chang-hee of Hana Asset Trust and President Bae Hyun-ki of the Hana Financial Institute have been awarded another term.
