Korea Southern Power Co. (KOSPO) President Yoon Jong-keun took office as the seventh CEO of the power company in an inauguration at the KOSPO headquarters in Busan on Feb. 1.
Born in Goseong, Gyeongsangnam-do, in 1950, KOSPO President Yoon graduated from Busan Commercial High School and Dong A University Trade Department.
Throughout his career, he has held such positions as the head of the Seoul regional headquarters of KEPCO, the executive vice president in charge of management at Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., adviser at Samsung C&T Plant Business Unit, and the chairman of the board of directors at Korea Western Power Co.
President Yoon exchanged greetings with KOSPO officers and staff members at the KOSPO headquarters located at the Busan International Finance Center and pledged to make a hopeful and fresh start in the years to come.
In his inaugural speech, President Yoon disclosed his determination to make KOSPO a company leading the global energy market beyond its role as one of Korea¡¯s representative public entities by creating organizational solidarity through communication and reconciliation, developing technologies and turning to management innovation.
Yoon set the foremost business tasks— strengthening financial soundness, dedicating construction projects to stabilize power supply, and establishing an integrity environment.
The new KOSPO president also toured the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry and joined a signature campaign to appeal for the parliamentary passage of bills designed to reinvigorate the sagging economy. He said KOSPO will focus on investing into new energy businesses and new and renewable energy projects.
Yoon urged his officers and staff members to devote themselves to self development, exploring creative ideas, promoting management efficiency, joining forces in enhancing the power company¡¯s competitiveness, making KOSPO a company with integrity; gaining public trust; by attaching top priority to integrity and ethics.

KOSPO, an Exemplary Public Entity with ¡®Top Integrity¡¯
Korea Southern Power Co. (KOSPO) earned a reputation as a public organization that has integrity, as the company was granted a 1st class degree in the public enterprise (II) category in the 2014 integrity survey by the Anti-Corruption & Civil Rights Commission (ACRC) for the fourth year in a row.
KOSPO was honored with the first-class degree in a survey of anti-corruption and integrity activities and the outcomes of corruption prevention efforts conducted during the period between November 2013 and October 2014. The company topped the list of 254 public entities in the public enterprise (II) category of the 2014 integrity survey by ACRC, whose results were made public recently.
KOSPO implemented the operation of ¡°youth idol groups¡± designed to spread an environment of integrity on a voluntary basis through such campaigns as ¡°High-Five Drive¡±; awarding integrity mileage points in promoting employees; and enhancing management transparency among its subsidiaries.
The power company made a rare feat of topping ACRC¡¯s integrity survey list for the fourth straight year. In 2010, KOSPO made it to the top of the ACRC list among 711 surveyed organizations. The power company has since topped the integrity list of public organizations for the fourth straight year. KOSPO ranked 1st among public entities and 2nd overall in 2013.
