Korea Gas Safety Corp. (KGS) held the so-called meeting ¡°Grand Debate Session on Medium & Long-Term Management Innovation for Future Development¡± at its Grand Conference Room in Chungbuk Innovation City on Dec. 7, 2015, with all executives and division heads participating.
The debate was designed to share the management¡¯s achievements to date and establish its future direction. It also marked the first anniversary of President & CEO Park Ki-dong's inauguration.
After the selection of the corporation's four core issues for the future - early realization of its vision; development of new businesses; rationalization of management; and reinforcement of safety services for the people - the session proceeded with the announcement and discussion of the core issues collected through pre-discussion in each division over the previous month with the participation of all employees.
A total 75 core tasks were induced, including 21 for early realization of its vision. KGS will reflect all 75 tasks in its 2016 business plan and pursue them, while simultaneously managing 43 tasks for a second year among the existing 777 communication innovation tasks to maximize business results in 2016.
This will be achieved through strengthened connectivity to the 2015 management performance. At the session, President Park said, "The high achievements realized by our corporation in 2015 are the results of our executives and employees working as owners. I believe that these achievements have been transcending excellence.¡±
KGS President & CEO Park Gi-dong conducted special onsite gas safety checks on Dec. 4 to prevent accidents in the winter season when the use of gas appliances, including heating equipment, rises sharply. President Park visited OJC, a manufacturer of butane gas ranges and butane cans, located in Danwon-gu, Ansan City, Gyeonggi Province, and listened to explanations of the company's safety management. In addition, he conducted a special check on whether the company's production and inspection of products was being done in accordance with safety management regulations.
"Securing the safety of gas products that are used most frequently in daily life is the first step toward stronger gas safety and the people's happiness," he emphasized, calling on related officials there to "prevent the occurrence of gas accidents caused by the distribution substandard goods, regarding public safety as the top priority, as well as manufacturing best-quality products through perfect management throughout the production process."
A quality inspection system for high-pressure gases has been introduced to prevent the distribution and sale of substandard refrigerants, etc.
Also, in line with the revision of the High Pressure Gas Safety Control Act requiring that those intending to do excavation work should confirm the existence of buried high-pressure gas facilities and take the necessary safety measures, provisions mandated by the law, including quality inspection methods and procedures, and confirmation request procedures regarding the existence and status of buried high-pressure gas pipes, and those items required for implementation, have been defined.
The exception standard of applying high-pressure gas transport criteria was defined as less than 13kg, including storage capacity.
On July 29, the Ministry of Trade, Industry Energy revealed that it will promulgate a partial revision order of the High Pressure Gas Safety Control Act's Enforcement Regulations.
The revised regulations expand precision safety inspection targets so that refrigeration production facilities of over 500 tons in refrigeration capacity using toxic gases receive inspections by general field, equipment field and electricity and instrumentation field during the regular overhaul period in the year when 15 years have elapsed from the date of having received the first completion inspection certificate and four years have elapsed from the date of having received the latest regular inspection.
