Hyundai Glovis, an affiliate of the Hyundai Motor Group, won the $5 Billion Export Tower Medal at the 52nd Trade Day ceremony held at Coex in southern Seoul on Dec. 7.

The company was recognized for its successful operation in the logistics area at home and abroad, especially its service to transport autos produced at home by its affiliate auto makers, Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors, to various markets around the world on time at competitive prices and service.

The company was set up in 2001 and now has grown to operate 24 overseas subsidiaries with 16 offices abroad. Hyundai Glovis has seen seeing its annual turnover expand in record numbers, with its 2014 sales revenue coming to 13.922 trillion won, an explosive rise from the 198.5 billion won the logistics company recorded in the initial year of operation in 2001.

The company¡¯s overseas earnings came to $1.402 billion in 2010, $3.05 billion in 2012, and $4.773 billion in 2014, and is projected to reach $5.367 billion this year, the company said.

Hyundai Glovis has been expanding its operation to such areas as steel products, machinery, energy and consumer products to diversify the products that it transports on land and at sea, especially the transportation of products other than those of its affiliates in a bid to boost its position as a global logistics firm.

The company set up the Logistics Industry Promotion Foundation, donating 2 billion won to the foundation every year to help SME logistics firms to grow and stable operation of the domestic logistics firms. The company has also been sponsoring classes on logistics on a regular basis to help those in the industry develop new capacities and know-how to operate their logistics businesses better, and in the process further develop the logistics industry.

The company has been putting its capacities for logistics and distribution to good use for mutual growth of all logistics firms centered around customers, and also leading moves for the Green Logistics movement by reducing its exposure of toxic gases by 1 percent annually. It¡¯s taking diverse actions to reduce the gases including the introduction of bigger vehicles for delivery, joint use of logistics terminals, the installation of the gauges to measure logistics energy, among its diverse measures.

Hyundai Glovis Co. Ltd. is a global logistics company. Though relatively young, Hyundai Glovis has grown rapidly since its establishment and has made a smooth entry into the shipping industry in 2010. Hyundai Glovis shipping group has its own fleet of Car Carriers and Bulk Carriers.

¡°As already self established as a total logistics company especially for the automobile industry, we aim to provide the highest level of services quality for vehicle shipment,¡± the company said on its statement on its website.
