LG U+ Chairman Lee Sang-cheol¡¯s high profile on the global stage has been drawing public spotlight of late, particularly when it comes to publicizing that his company aims to become a ¡°New Life Creator¡± with a focus on creating values, shifting from service providers to customers.

Vice Chairman Lee has been cruising with remarkable achievements for the past five years since his inauguration, but he is now in a high flier on the global stage to publicize his company.

Lee will become the first LG U+ CEO to deliver a keynote speech at Mobile World Congress Shanghai (MWC Shanghai) scheduled to be held in China from July 15 to July 17. Lee will reportedly speak about ¡°IoT and New Life Creator,¡± in keeping with Mobile Unlimited, the theme of the event.

The Groupe Speciale Mobile Association (GSMA) has selected prominent telecom experts to speak at MWC Shanghai, depending on the theme. LG U+ Vice Chairman Lee¡¯s high profile on the global stage is exemplified by his prominent standing in the global telecommunications industry, analysts said.

In May, LG U+ Vice Chairman Lee toured Huawei¡¯s headquarters in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, China, where he met Chairman Ren Zhengfei to discuss the development of a 5G network and ways to promote co-prosperity between the two companies.

Lee also toured the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2015 in Las Vegas and the Mobile World Congress 2015 in Barcelona, the two biggest world ICT fairs. It was the first time in four years he participated in the two ICT fairs. While touring the fairs, LG U+ Vice Chairman Lee held meetings with not only Samsung Electronics and other Korean companies, but also global ICT leaders, including Huawei, Ericson, Nokia, AT&T, IBM and NTT DOCOMO. LG U+ dispatched a record high 200 delegates to MWC 2015 in Spain last March to the demonstrate IoT services the Korean telecom provider is developing.

LG U+ Chairman Lee gave his New Year¡¯s message on Jan. 2 and expressed his determination to take the initiative in making global changes with extraordinary creative spirit.

¡°A new ICT era will usher in a different world than now,¡± Chairman Lee said.

He declared 2015 as the first year of becoming a ¡°New Life Creator¡± with a focus on creating value, shifting from service providers to customers.

In an interview on the sideline of 2015 CES in Las Vegas recently, one of the world¡¯s largest home appliance trade shows, LGU+ Chairman Lee said, ¡°the IoT era is a period with a focus on individuals. Machines and technology imitating human beings¡¯ emotions will dramatically reduce individuals¡¯ time and cost.¡±

¡°In reality, the home appliance tradeshow CES had not been related with telecom service providers,¡± he said. ¡°But things are changing fundamentally. Take a look at the evolution of smart homes and smart cars, it turns out that a wide range of sensors can create new values, so this is the first year of ushering in an era of IoT.¡±

LG U+ Releases Data-Based Price System Offering Double Data Compared to Rivals

LG U+ has laid down the gauntlet for voice and data consumers who use smartphones.

On May 29, the Korean telecom service provider released six data packages offering unlimited mobile voice and fixed-line voice call via home phones free of charge, and eight kinds of video packages offering unlimited voice free of charge.

The newly released data products bring more benefits to LG U+ subscribers than its rivals.
